He was best known as "The Big Guy" Aurthur Carlson on WKRP in Cincinnati sitcom in the late 70s early 80s.

What a great and classic show!

Rgds,

Greg

That's ashame. He had a good role in WKRP.

The episode that stands out was when they had a Thanksgiving Day publicity stunt of dropping live turkeys from a helicopter hovering over a parking lot.

Trouble was, turkey don't fly. The news reporter Les Nesman was reporting the carnage and it was hilarious.

Funny thing though, until that episode of WKRP, myself and probably most people had no idea turkeys didn't fly.

You're only as good as your last departure.

FDXmech - that episode ended with him saying a classic line..."As God is my witness, I thought turkey's could fly". I still laugh just thinking about it. That guy was perfect for that role.

The episode I'll always remember was the one done right after the trampling deaths at the Who concert in Cincy. It was very poignant.

How about the one where Les is reporting on the tornados using a script for if the Russians attack. I believe his words were ......we are being attacked by those godless Tornados!

From the Thanksgiving episode.

Les Nessman: "I see something being dropped out of the helicopter......OH MY GOD, they're Turkeys!!!!!!"  Big thumbs up

Greg

He was also the Maytag repairman guy.  Sad

Man I remember watching the Thanksgiving turkey episode on a re-run a few years back...is WKRP on anymore? TV Land maybe?

WKRP is usually on TV land on Saturday and Sunday nights at 11:00 PM Central Time. It revolves with a couple of other shows. Last Saturday had the episode where Les Nessman threatens to jump off the building when people think he's gay.

Just for reminders......the other stars were by their "show" names.

Dr. Johnny Fever

Venus Flytrap

Bailey Quarters

Jennifer Marlow

Andy Travis

Les Nessman

Herb Tarlek

Remember that Les always had the tape around his desk where walls would one day stand!

I forgot that it was on TV Land, I will have to check it out!!!!!
