At least two Swedish nuclear plants - Oskarshamn and Ringhals - appear to have then developed problems and had to shut down production units.

Something of a coincidence - the lines to Germany and Poland were both down for maintenance, so it was harder to share the load.

Apparently the nuclear plants automatically shut down / taken offline as a safety precaution, in case of very strong fluctuations in demand or whatever.

And they still have not figured out why the Power in Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, and NY went out.

2 problems seem to have caused this, one at Oskarshamn nuclear powerstation and one at the electric grid on the Swedish west coast.
Really windy so parts of Nortern Sweden was without electricity as well from
fallen threes over powerlines...
