It now transpires that Jens Lehmann, Arsenal goalkeeper assaulted one of the match officials after the game against Man Utd. In this case, I assume he is looking at a long ban?

MUAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jensi doing what he does best...*ROFLMFAO*

Really guys, the man could be one of the better goalkeepers worldwide, but he just can't keep "contenance". That's what he was famous for in Germany, too!

Andreas - Lehmann and Arsenal must be a match made in heaven then as Arsenal's team is full of psychopaths. There are more nutcases in the Arsenal team than in the whole of the Taliban. They used to be a good side who played nice football but now it seems all they want to do is cheat and try to intimidate their opponents

Oh, you´re talking about good old Jens Lehmann.
You cannot imagine how disappointed I am by not seeing him embarrassing my least liked Bundesliga team - Borussia Dortmund - anymore.
Well, Matthias Sammer (the coach) now does a pretty good job in replacing him as the most unpleasant person related to german soocer at the moment.

The officials of Arsenal definitely didn´t do themselves a favour by paying lots of money for an ooops..hole like Lehmann...well he´s still pretending to be better than Oliver Kahn which says a lot about his ability to stay at least to some extent close to reality...

Ryanb741, I think its all a rumour. According the FA the official charge is..

"One charge of improper conduct for 'confronting referee Steve Bennett after Patrick Vieira's second yellow card and for then persistently seeking to confront van Nistelrooy".

9V-SPE, we only paid 1.7 million for him. Hardly a waste of money I would have thought.

Well, to say something positive about Lehmann: If I take a good look at the keepers in England, he's still one of the best, only, that doesn't say much. He's psychologically highly unstable, can't keep his cool, even after a game, and therefore is to be considered high-risk. You have to give him that: The guy sometimes does saves that are superhuman, contradictory to all physical laws, next minute he gets tunneled. What he needs is not a coach but a team of psychiatrists!! maybe Arsenal should consider hiring a few...you might end up with a brilliant keeper...maybe...

Yesterday evening I heard on CNN that 8 players are facing charges right now...what the hell did they do????

Andreas - basically there was a big fight/confrontation after the game and 6 Arsenal players and 2 Man Utd players have been charged for violent conduct. They are looking at bans.

Regarding goalkeepers in England - actually I would say some of the best keepers in the world play in England, the only problem is that none of them are English  Sad The English national team goalkeeper plays for West Ham in a lower division, that's how bad the situation is  Sad It's a shame because the attack is very good and the midfield too, but the defence and goalkeeper are at the moment about at the level of Luxembourg Sad It is always the same for England now, we go behind to a stupid error at half time and then the strikers score more goals than the opponents to get the team a victory whereas if we could defend we would beat these teams much easier. I worry that when England play a good team that the strikers will have too much to do to make up for the mistakes of the defence  Sad

Ryan that is exactly what I meant, none of them is a Brit (Where is Banco when we need some contradiction Big grin). I read some news reports about that game, must have been crazy. And whenever there is violence around you can be sure Lehmann is to participate. On the other hand, did van Nistelroy really fail on the penalty because Lehmann jumped around on the line???  Nuts  Nuts  Nuts

I suppose there is hope for Stuttgart after all (my favorite team btw, currently No. 1 in German Bundesliga Big grin)

Van Nistelrooy missed the penalty because he chose to strike the ball too hard (around Mach 1) without the necessary control; he had missed his previous two penalties.

In that case good news for Rami Shaaban, the Swedish goalie that also plays for the Gunners. He was seriously injured in practice (broken leg) and have just recently been fit to play...

Well, Zizou (my nick is actually 9V-SPF), you are right in pointing out that 1.7 million (british pounds, I guess) isn´t too much for a goalkeeper from the class of Lehmann but as Andreas mentioned, he continually behaves like a psychopath and regularly gets out of control on the field who weakens his team right at the moment when it need his keeper most.
That should have been reconsidered before employing him.

Daniel

9V-SPF (Daniel), maybe so, but so far he has been pretty good for us, touch wood!

Ryanb741, in my mind the best keepers come from Italy. You just have to look at the names of Buffon, Toldo, Abbiati, Peruzzi and going even further back, Zoff!;
