What does everyone think of the latest concepts created by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, much respected founder of easyJet As always early bookings and people willing to travel/eat/cruise/view at off peak times get the lowest prices.

easyCinema: The only one of the above currently operating: a 10-screen cinema in Miltown Keynes. Cheapest prices start from £0.20 (€.0.35). However occupancy levels are struggling in the 20-30% range because distributors are refusing to give easyCinema first run films: discrimination says Stelios, pricing issues say the distributors.

easyCruise: Cruise ships sailing the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean during the winter starting in mid-2004 if a suitable (second hand) vessel can be sourced and refurbished. Aimed at young people and families with prices starting at £29 (€40) per person, “room” only (which you have to clean yourself). People will be able to start and end their cruise at any point.

easyDorm: A room (fibre glass unit) from £5 (€7) per night. While it includes a toilet and shower unit, you will have to clean it yourself (or be fined £20/€28) and bring (or buy) your bedding and toiletries. First one will likely be in the centre of London.

easyBus: Medium distance intercity minibus services. Initial route will be London – Birmingham starting at £1 (€1.40). Company is already searching for drivers.

easyPizza: Pizzas starting from £1 (€1.40).

So what does everyone think? Some are more revolutionary than others, for example there is nothing that new about the hotel concept (thinking Formule1 and the pod hotels in Japan). Some of his other ventures including easyMoney, easyCar and easyEverything have only been mildly successful.

Should be good, if he can cross-sell... if.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Easy car rentals are excellent, if you're near one of their sites. The network isn't very convenient, but I guess that's part of keeping the overheads down.

On the other hand, whilst Stelios regularly complains of underhand measures taken by more established people in each industry, he doesn't always play nicely himself...

I'd use easyCinema a lot if there was one near here. I was thinking of trying it out a few months ago. They keep costs low by not showing brand new films which is one downside.

There are loads of domains reserved just incase..

I've used easyCar before, and whilst I do like them (cheap & rent to under 21s), as Bob said, their network isn't that good, and you must return the car to the same location; in addition to this, some of the staff at the branch I used were acting like complete jerks with the cars, racing them around the car park...I'm sure Stelios wouldn't be impressed if he saw how his own staff treat those Mercs...

'distributors are refusing to give easyCinema first run films'

Fine by me, I usually only get round to watching films months after they are released...also, if they'd show art house/indie movies for those prices I would be a regular user...although they better expand outside of MK...

As for the rest, in the words of Dubya....bring 'em on

EasyCruise: to me the whole idea of a cruise is the luxury, why should anyone want to cruise on what would amount to a ferry without the cars on?

The same could be said for airlines or hotel accommodation. Not everyone can afford a 14-night cruise around the Med on the Oriana....my parents just returned from a last-minute el cheapo cruise around the Greek islands and had a fantastic time.

Sounds like Stelios is trying to outdoing Sir Richard and the Virgin Group. What next, EasyCola, EasyMobile, EasyBride? Why not merge the two and have EasyVirgin!

The sleasybus between London and Oxford has already been done.

You can see the (rather old looking) bus trundling up the M40 advertising its £1 each way fares.

Kinda stolen Sleasybus' thunder....
