No disrespect to the thread-starter, but let's delete this one, and go with the positive spin on this one. And I tried hitting suggest deletion-it isn't working for me.  Smile

Any time the "Kings of Baseball" Yankees lose, it is NOTHING but positive! Gratz Marlins - The only team to boast they've never lost a post-season series! And, since H. Wayne Asswipe doesn't own the team any longer, maybe they'll be back with the same group of guys (or close to it) next year!

So it was ok when there was a post like this about the cubs losing, so why is it not ok when your team loses?

Good point UPSfueler. Aaaahhh it was nice seeing those Marlins win. Good job, even though they beat the Cubs.

And the Yanks choke again. Hahahahahahahaha, Joe Torre is gonna be out of there if he is not careful. This should be interesting

If Steinbrenner gets rid of Torre, he's an idiot, Usairwys757, and he's not an idiot. And in defense of the Yankees, they've rarely "choked" come playoff time. They were beaten by a better team. How is that choking?

Steinbrenner will do one thing: he'll get rid of Wells' contract, Clemens is no longer on the team, he'll get rid of guys like Garcia and Sierra, to save a few million on the payroll, and go out and outbid everyone for Bartolo Colon and other prime free agent pitching. He'll then trade someone like a Jeff Weaver, who has some value, and I think can still be a very good pitcher, to fill any gaps in the offense. He'll reload, and they'll be the favorites, once again, to win the AL Pennant.

Choke? Give the Fish, and the Yankees, a little more credit than that.

Alpha1, I wouldnt call Florida a "better team", I would call them a smarter team that played with enthusiasm. The Yanks didnt play with any of that and thats why Torre will be gone.

Really? They had better hitting; they had better overall hitting; they easily had better defense than the Bombers. They were absolutely the better team, hands down.

As for Torre being gone, you don't know much about the Yankees. Steinbrenner probably knows better than to fire a guy who's led his team to 7 World Series in the last 10 years. He'll retool, with Torre at the helm, and all will be well with Yankee Fan.

In general, the Yankees are a better team than the Marlins. Substantially better.

However, they chose to play their WORST baseball of the year in the World Series, whereas the Marlins stepped up to the pump.

Ergo, my Yankees deserved to lose.

Sigh.

Alpha1, You must not know much about Steinbrenner, He once used up 3 managers in one season. Not winning the series 3 years in a row will make him a very unhappy guy, dont fall out of your chair if Torre is gone next year, is all im saying.

Sure he'll be unhappy, friend. But he's also not the same guy he was 20 years ago when he pulled all those antics. He's shrewd enough to know he has one of the best managers in the bigs, and he's getting to the Series virtually every year with him. Even George knows once you get to the series, it's pretty much a crapshoot, and the hot team will win. He knows this, and he knows he's still in the most advantageous position in baseball, and he's not going to rock the boat, or let Torre go to another team. Not yet.

Alls I can say is, GO MARLINS! I am sure glad the yanks lost, as they always beat the shit out of my team, the blue jays, and steinbrenner is an asshole too.

The "Better" team doesn't always win. The team that PLAYS the best is the one that wins. Such is the case here. Every team the Marlins played in the postseason was better than they were, they just outplayed all of them. Of course the Cubs choked too but that's a different story.

Hmmmm....Yankee Nation sure is silent (with the exception of LHMark of course).

There is no Yankee Nation. Just Yankee Bandwagon. The Yankee Diehards are few and far between (LHMark), while the bandwagon, obnoxious fans who talk plenty of shit when the Yanks win, and are nowhere to be found when they lose (Jcs17) are all over the place. Sadly enough....they don't even have the sack to face it. Yankee Fan's numbers dropped by about 10 million in a couple of nights. Once they start winning again next summer though, they will all be back. I understand this concept of "fans" doesn't just apply to the Yankees, but they have by far, the biggest bandwagon and more fair weather fans than any other pro sports team. They have a great tradition yes...to bad their fans completely suck.
