I'm a bit surprised that no one came up with this issue before.

There is another big fight going on between the President and the Prime Minister.

I'm sure there are a few guys well informed of Sri Lanka and I wonder what you are thinking of this ...

Hi Swissgabe,
Good to hear from you. Didn't see any of your postings for a while here on A.net?

I normally tend to keep away from politics.

Well, this kind of tussle is part and parcel of Srilankan politics. Shame they don't televise these as it would beat watching WWF any day.  Wink/being sarcastic

My only concern was about the England Cricket tour, which is due to start next week, would go ahead or not, as I have already booked tickets for the one day games and flying out this coming week-end!!

Regards

SriLankan_340,

I think its almost certain that England will be touring Sri Lanka this December. Incidently, who will you be barracking for?

Swissgabe,

Things have calmed down a bit, since Ranil got back from the states. Hopefully he can sort this out.

Well, have been busy for some time but if you check, there are some new UL postings around the Civil Aviation part  Smile

Yes, some things calmed down but the attention Sri Lanka it self gets in the "Western" world, speaking mainly of the place I'm living (Switzerland) isn't very good. In a democratic country such things shouldn't happen. As far as I know, all further peace talks have been postponed and no later date was given. One part is going to push for the peace talk and the other doesn't.

In my opinion the only future Sri Lanka has is PEACE and I hope that the people from Sri Lanka want that too.

The most admirable part of the whole episode, and many in India are talking about this, was that the whole thing, including the attempted coup, was done in a constitutional manner.

Anyway I think it was pretty disgusting of Mr.Wickremasinghe to say publicly that the American presiedent was on his side! Sections of the Indian media called that childish! Your thoughts?

Is anything being done to protect the "Mexican staring frog of southern Sri Lanka" during this ordeal?
