This Week In The NFL: Chiefs No Longer Perfect!

I didn't quite have the nerve to call this upste when talking to my best friend in Indy this week, but I thought this could be the dangerous game for the Chiefs-and so it was. The Cincinnati Bengels defeated the previously unbeaten Chiefs in Cincinnati, and now, believe it or not, the Bengels are tied for first place in the AFC North. Don't look now, Tuna, but Marvin Lewis will be getting some serious consideration as Coach of The Year.

And, I didn't think there was a worse team in the league than the Browns-I was wrong. The Arizona Cardinals have got to be the worst football team I've seen in many 'a NFL season, as the Browns beat them 44-6. I'm not too excited about it-half the teams in College can beat the Cardinals.

You're take on Week 10.

In a sort of irony, the Bengals just recently lost to the Cardinals.

1) Awesome overtime win for the Saints over the Falcons!
2) The '72 Dolphins get to uncork another case of champaign (with the Cheifs loss).
3) Cleveland racks up serious points (even if they're playing AZ).
4) DAL-NE tonight will be a war.

So, that means that since the Bengals beat the Chiefs, and the Cardinals beat the Bengels, and the Browns beat the Cardinals-the Browns are the best team in football, right?  Big thumbs up

Too bad. I was really rooting for the Chiefs to be 16-0 or 15-1. They can still achieve the latter. I guess it was just the week for the Bungles to get frustrated enough and take it out on Trent Green.

Tom in NO; you betcha. Will any of us get a chance to see a repeat of Don Shula's fish? Well, maybe you younger guys, but I don't know about me. Anyway, I really thought KC might have spread their unbeaten record further.

I gotta bet my other team, the Titans, to at least rock through their playoffs. Maybe THE bowl. Any takers? Regards...Jack

The Jets-Colts game going on right now sure is a good one. I hope the Jets pull this one out, as the Dolphins won today, and the Phins gain a game on them.

Well, the Lions are losing 35-14 at Seattle, so I decided that I would turn off the TV and see what exciting topics are on this forum. Even though the Lions beat the AZ Cardinals in week #1, I would bet that if there was a rematch later in the year, and it was played in PHX, the Lions would lose---they may never win another road game..........EVER.

And of course, while they looked good and played a good game, and kept it close (which was more than anyone here in Chicago thought they'd do) the Bears still managed to lose another game.

They were plain and simple out coached. The only good that will come from this season is that after this abortion is done with, there will be a general house cleaning in the coaching department, and we might get someone with some competence in there. Bye bye Jaron. Bye bye Shoop.

Of course, the likelyhood of the McKaskys spending the $$ to bring any decent coach here is slim and none.

Another week, another huge Peyton Manning game.  Smile

Saints over the hapless Falcons in front of the 27th consecutive home sellout in the Big Easy, doesn't get much better than that!

The Giants sucked AGAIN this week. One series in the game summed up the whole game for them. 1st down and goal to go on the 1 yard line and the Giants come up with NO POINTS!  Pissed

Eagles mop up the Giants 28-10...tied for first place in the division now at 7-3! As it turns out I attended the Miami-Baltimore game today at Pro Player, which could be described as one of the more boring games of the week...Dolphins squeaked it out 9-6 in OT, then headed back to DEN on F9 and watched the Cowboys lose to the Patriots on DirectTV on the flight...it was a thrill to see the Cowboys get shut out while cruising at 39,000 ft!!!

And now, the weekly dose of propaganda:

The Bears had the Rams right where they wanted them. The defense just couldn't hold them down when it mattered. This was a game they definitely should have won.

What was up with Philly's black jerseys? Talk about retarded looking....

And what's up with the new turf at the Superdome? How come they wait till mid-season to put that in? Good to see another stadium get rid of the astroturf crap though. Only MSP and STL are left....

What the hell is wrong with Tampa Bay? Good Lord....

Hey, how about that prolific Buffalo Bills Offense? Couldn't even score a freakin' TD at home against the Texas Houstons. Well done Buffalo. The D holds the opposition to 12 points, and the O can't even get in the end zone. And Props to the kicker as well. Not like those 2 missed field goals were costly or anything.

The Panthers beat the Skins so I'm happy. I used to be a huge Redskins fan until 95 when the Panthers came to Charlotte. 8-2 and almost assured of making the playoff's. Things are looking better and better.

Interesting coincidence: the two biggest football rivalries in Ohio both take place this next weekend, with the Browns hosting the Steelers, and Ohio State going to Ann Arbor to play Meechigan. That doesn't happen often.

If the Steelers can win tonight in the City by The Bay, it sets up a do-or-die game, in effect, for both the Browns and Steelers. Although, looking at their two schedules-the Steelers having the easiest schedule left in the NFL, and the Browns the toughest, it's a bigger game, in a sense, for the Browns than Steelers.

Why are there so many polls out there saying the Titans are better than the Pats? The Pats beat the Titans earlier in the year. I don't get it.

KROC,

They are proud of it because it is damn rare. They know someday that they will no longer be an exclusive member to this club, so for now they are just enjoying it and having a little fun. I have had the privaledge of meeting a couple of the '72 Phins and they are very cool gentlemen. Not a hint of egomania. Besides if they did, I wasn't about to tell it to Czonka's face!!  Laugh out loud. Don't bust a gasket over it.

And, it looks like Jon Gruden is following in the "Butch Davis School of Shaking Up Your Team" mode (a Super Bowl champion, following something the Browns are doing? Heaven help us).

Bucs to deactivate Keyshawn for rest of season
Nov. 18, 2003
By Jay Glazer
SportsLine.com Senior Writer

Keyshawn Johnson's tumultuous relationship with Jon Gruden has reached its boiling point and now Johnson won't be getting the damn ball again this season.

SportsLine.com has learned the former Pro Bowl receiver will be deactivated by the Bucs for the remainder of the season, benching him for the final six games.

When contacted by SportsLine.com, Johnson sounded shocked and added he didn't know anything about such a move.

"I'm not even in town right now," he said. "I'm traveling. For what? What are they doing that for? What have I done?

"I didn't do anything. I haven't done anything, like I've always done, but play with passion when I step in between those white lines."

Phone calls to Rich McKay have not been returned.

Johnson has privately stated to friends it is his desire to play elsewhere next season. Earlier this season he battled with Gruden over his lack of balls thrown to him in the offense. He also gave Gruden a shot by boasting how far he has to go in order to be on the same level of Bill Parcells.

The two have had a rocky relationship since Gruden first came to Tampa a year ago. There were blowups on the sideline, recent rips by Johnson's agent of the coach and even an embarrassing moment on TV when he was caught belittling fellow Pro Bowl wideout Marvin Harrison.

It is unclear if the Bucs will make the announcement official Tuesday or wait for the players to return Wednesday.

Joe Jurevicius will likely start in Johnson's place.

Bravo on Gruden's part. They should definitely get rid of him. He's just an overated possesion receiver. His mouth far exceeds his actual talent.
