I like the Untouchables with Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro and Andy Garcia in it. Great film that i'll always love, mainly since it was the first Mob film i watched! The elevator seen still gets me!

My favorite actor in Goodfellas is Joe Pesci. He is absolutely brutal and gets his in the end!

I also found it interesting that Robert Deniro and Ray Liottas characters could not be "made" as they were part irish!

Great movie all around!

Goodfellas taught me alot about what it's like to be a gangster. Scorcese's other "twin" Casino was also pretty good...Pesci essentially plays the same character in both.

How about Donnie Brasco with Johnny Depp and Al Pacino? Actually, I don't remember too much about it, except that it was ok.

Although this wasn't a total "Mob" movie, I really like Midnight Run. Dennis Farina makes the best mobster. Great one liners in that movie too.

While Midnight Run is one of my favorite movies, I'll have to give the nod to GoodFellas as my favorite mob flick.

Personally, I think mob movies are incredibly damaging to American Culture. Every time a new mob movie comes out, a couple of thousand more impressionable guido kids think they're invulnerable wise guys. The result: a spike in bar brawls and stupid petty crime, and more irritation to social critics like myself.

That being said, I gotta go with The Untouchables

Yes, Dennis Farina does make a great "mobster"

To me though, Rober Deniro or Al Pacino are the best at playing the part. Although Joe Pesci does the best at the squirrelly little bad guy part!

Forgot about Casino, great movie!

My favorite line from Jimmy Serrano (Dennis Farina) in Midnight Run:

"Don't say a f*cking word, or I'll get up and bury this phone in your head."

The movie has a lot of great dialogue, especially from Robert DeNiro:

Johnathan (Charles Grodin): "You're a grown man, you have control over your own words..."
Jack (Robert DeNiro): "You're godd*mn right I do, and here's two words for you - shut the f*ck up."

In goodfellas, probably my favorite, albeit disturbing scene, is when Ray Liotta "bitch-slaps" his girlfriends (later wife) old boyfriend after he physically abuses her, with the butt of his handgun. The sound effects even made it more realistic!

I am going to have to watch Midnight Run again. Is it available on DVD?

Greg

Also noticed that "Once upon a time in America" with Robert DeNiro and James Woods is on DVD. I have not seen in, but my father-in-law says it is a great movie!

I've also heard that about Once Upon a Time in America, although it's almost 4 hours long. They had a 2-2 1/2 hour version out, but it's suppose to be totally butchered...

Midnight Run is a little gem, with great performances all around from DeNiro, Grodin, Farina, Yaphet Kotto, John Ashton, and Joe Pantoliano.

Love Scarface! Just got the DVD!

I'll consider "The Godfather" trilogy as a single film and will easily say that it's the best mob film, even with Sofia Coppola (great director, crappy actress) in the third film.
