Hello out there.
For the past few months, I've received someone elses mail a few times a week. It's for a Mr Chung and a Mrs Long. I'm not oriental or asian.
Anyhow, today I got fed up and instead of leaving it for the postman (marked wrong address), I opened it. It's an electricity bill from the company Enbridge for the amount of $751.37. I phoned them to let them know that if they continue to send this guys bill to my address that they'll never get their money!
The electrical service is for an address about 6 miles from my home, but, the mailing address is for my home (with the wrong postal code). I've lived at my home now for 7 1/2 years.
Anyhow, apparently the law of the land here in Canada is such that you are legally allowed to open any mail that the postman puts in your mailbox. You have the right to open it.
So, how about you. Do you open mail that you find in your mailbox that's not yours or leave it for the postman? Honestly, have you ever opened someone else's mail out of curiosity? I have.
Is it legal or illegal to open someone else's mail where you live?
