I wasn't really attacked, but when I was in London at a Burger King in 1997, some strange old guy came up to me, and in this pathetic, old tired voice, said "gimme a sandwich or i'll knock yer teeth out".
My friend and I just kind of sat there, stunned. The guy just walked off.......strange. I would have given him a french fry!

Yes, it was about 2:00 AM when I was 19, I was walking out to my van after getting a few grocerys at the 24-hour grocery store. A guy about my age walked up to me as I put the groceries in the van. He demanded all the money I had, but he had no weapon. So I just said, "Ummmmmmm, no."
He then took a very weak swing at me, so I kicked him in the magic spot, he fell to the ground. I then drove off.

A couple of years ago I was assalted near our hotel in Riga, Latvia. It was in public and during broad daylight. They tried to knock me to the ground and get my wallet and some packages. Luckily, his swing missed and mine didn't. They ran off. It was a frightening experience.

I've never been attacked, but I've been held up at gunpoint. What's really stupid, is that from me and the three others I was with the two guys got $14 (we were on our way home at 5 AM) but they didn't take my expensive watch that I'd just checked the time on right before they pulled the guns out from under their shirts. Stupid crackheads.

And this one guy punched me in the face and ran off with my backpack, which thankfully only had my gym shorts in it, (damn, i wish i pooed on it earlier that day)

This is a similar as what hole_courtney post.
Last summer when my family and I visited Las Vegas, we decided to go out for a 12am walk along the strip. This was right in front of the MGM Grand Hotel and New York New York while this drunk hobo guy came right up to my dad. (My dad was recording the scenery and music on his camcorder.) When he was about 30 feet from us, he started to wave him arms to us, probably trying to tell to turn it of. He walked right towards us and said "turn that bitch off you mother f---ker."
We were planning on leaving back to San Diego that same day since this was around 12:15-30am. So we should've shown the tape to the authories. But we got that mofo on tape.
It's pretty funny if you see the tape but I got pretty scaried when he approached us becuase he could've have a weapon or probably punched us. He just walked towards us then yelled out some profane words and walked pass us. That same guy also almost hit two teenage girls walking near us.

I have never been jumped, but my father helped run a Limousine service in Atlantic City, he was in his suit driving their newest Town Car stretch limo, when like 20 men all stood in front of him at a red light. A few of the men came up to the drivers window, and fired one shot. The bullet missed him and stuck into the dashboard. Since the window was gone, they reached inside, unlocked the doors and ripped my dad out. They took his wallet and all climbed inside then sped off with the limo. My dad was okay, but the limo was later found wrapped around a telephone poll. Many of the men were badly injured, and the driver broke his neck and was charged with attempted murder, theft and many other charges. My dad quit his job immediately.

Sushka I feel sorry for you. But shit happends.
Once when I was working in a restaurant as a cook helper, I was smoking behind the restaurant. I met there a girl that came to Poland from Spain for vacations. I was talking to her almost everyday for week or so, and one day she asked me if we can go out after my work.
That day after work I went behind the restaurant, and I was waiting for her. 6 people approached me and said that I should get the f*** out of there. I said that I'm only waiting for somebody. I knew those people before (just from the look). They knew that I'm waiting for that girl. They said that shes not going out with me. So I started ignoring them. All of a sudden they attacked me. 6 of them was hiting me, kicking everywhere. I was covered with blood, and I was so pissed that I left and went to my neighbourhood.
When I got to my area, my best friend saw me and asked what the hell happened to me. I told him the whole story and who did it.
I didnt go next day to work because I felt so bad. But day after that I went back and I found letter from her. She was apologizing, she said that she was really sorry what had happened that day. She also said that shes going back to Barcelona next morning and she wont see me again.
Few days later I found out that my best buddy and his two friends made visit in that neighbourhood. They did little revange for me
And those assholes deserves it!

Sorry to hear it happened to you, Sushka.
Where did it happen? Are you in Russia now?
Unfortunately, attacks on streets are way to common in Russia. In daylight it's usually money or sigarettes bad guys ask for. In evenings and nights, some drunks may decide to beat somebody up just for no reason: "just practising my roundhouse kick" or something like that.
Usually, non-resistance doesn't work. You'll end up beaten up badly. So, you must fight back in any way you can (careful with weapons, you don't wanna end up in jail). As long as you have some witnesses on streets that see you being mugged, harrased, just wait for the bad guy to make a move first, THEN HIT!

I have been lucky enough not to get attacked on the street, but I have once come close to that. An unshaven guy with a nasty stare was walking towards me in the parking lot of a Mac's store and a liquor store in Edmonton. He said something like "What the fuck are you looking at?" and was looking really pissed off. That was only a few blocks from where I live. I managed to steer clear of the guy and tried not to do anything to set him off. It all happened in broad daylight last year. I've seen people, even drunk ones, go right into the liquor store and attack the clerks and customers both physically and verbally.
A friend of mine was stabbed in the stomach and got his wallet stolen several years ago near Hastings Street in Vancouver, BC east of the downtown core (as a matter of fact, it's a really bad neighborhood with drugs and violence).

Hi SashA, Im still in Russia. Today I went to the hunting store and bought myself some "Grazdanskaya Oborodina", spray (Pepper Spray). If I see that person again, he will get it right in his face if he tries to do anything. I also found out from some people who live in that area where it happened and He is a boxer with lots of medals. The police said that they will arrest him next week.

I was going home a few weeks ago and just two blocks from my house, I was attacked by two Albanians, aged between 25-30. I couldn't do something to get away as they held knives. They only took my money and, fortunately, not my mobile. The situation with Albanians here is getting out of hand. I dont say that all of them are bad, but they have a tendancy to be criminals. Many people i know have been in the same situation. Sometimes, especially after dusk, I have in my pocket a large stone which i will not hesitate to throw right between the eyes. I am sick of being scared to walk on the street. Of course, my parents dont know anything. If they found out, they wouldn't let me circulate a lot at night.

When I was 14 I was "jumped" for my Beach Cruiser by some crips. The same year I was forced off an L.A. city bus by gun point by another gang member who thought I was in a punk gang (which I wasn't). During the 3 years I went to high school there were 2 shootings, 1 was gang related and the other was suicide in the bathroom. This was during 85-87 and at a highscool in a good part of L.A. I feel sorry for the kids now, Its definately a rough age, and to have to deal with being shot can really add to the stress of being a teenager.

Sushka: That guy is a boxer? This is more outraging than it sounded first time. He shouldn't have fought against someone who did not put up resistance at his level of skills. This is not the "sporty" way, this is pathetic.
Heh, I thought you'd get yourself a shotgun in that hunting store .
