Some of mine are

Dr. Strangelove
Clockwork Orange
One flew over the cuckoo's nest

All of these films display amazing acting alongside incomparable directing, and some of the best stories,IMO.

I could add so many more to this list but these are some of my top picks

First one that comes to mind is a 1974 Roy Scheider flick "The Seven-Ups". Excellent car chase through New York City rush hour.

I don't really have a "favourite" movie, coz it depends what I am in the mood to watch at the time, and I like movies from all genres, and all countries. But these are my favourites.

Australian: The Castle
British: Life of Brian/Holy Grail
Russian: Война и Мир (War and Peace) -- the only true epic.
American: Shawshank Redemption/Green Mile
French: Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
German: Das Boot
Italian: La Vita è Bella
Hong Kong: Shaolin Temple
Indian: The Party j/k Big grin

My Top Ten Movies of All Time:

These are based on Film style and cinematography in addition to plot, sript performances and enjoyabliity.

1) Raiders of the Lost Ark
2) Citizen Kane
3) Alexander Nevsky
4) The Seven Samurai
5) The Godfather
6) The Godfather Part II
7) Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back
8) Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
9) It's a Wonderful Life
10) Young Frankenstien

Some are on here because I just love to watch them, like Empire Strikes Back, but others are on my list because they are just so wonderful to watch. Like Young Frankenstien. But I think the world would be a very sad place if anyone of these movies didn't exist.

Can't argue with The Right Stuff. That movie is a real classic and was voted best movie of the 1980's i think.
