Well! How do you do justice to a game like that? City inept/Spurs very good in 1st half with extremely clincical finishing with Barton being booked for an "ott" tackle. Half time comes and the referee becomes a shrinking violet by sending Barton off for his temerity in asking why he was booked (note: not foul and abusive language!). 2nd half and City play like they haven't for a good number of games/seasons/decades (take your pick!) by clawing back the Spurs lead until they take the lead when Macken scores with a minute to go.

*Any similiarity between tonight's game and the Spurs-Man Urd game a couple of years ago is purely coincidental (?)*

Spurs v City, not City v Spurs.

There have been comebacks from three goals down in the past. What made this truly extraordinary was that firstly City were away, they've won one in the last eighteen games, and then were down to ten men at 3-0 down. It's the ten men that makes it unbelievable. It's the ten men that take it away from previous examples like Tranmere/Southampton, Spurs/Man U.

I've never seen anything like it. First half City were totally inept, the midfield overrun, the defence shaky. Leading scorer Nicolas Anelka comes off injured, midfielder Joey Barton is sent off.

3 minutes into the second half, a lifeline. An exquisite free kick from Michael Tarnat, the Spurs defence goes to sleep, and it's 3-1. The ten men of City are tearing into the Spurs defence, but gaps are being left at the back. A Spurs free kick produce a stunning double save from City goalkeeper Arni Arason (making his debut!) turning the shot onto the crossbar. the ball rebounds to the Spurs striker who heads it goalwards and Arason is nowhere to be seen. Somehow he gets back across the goal-line to save it.

City are still piling forward, and they get a bit of luck. A scuffed shot from Paul Bosvelt is deflected in. 3-2. It's mayhem around the ground. All you can hear is the City fans singing "We've only got ten men"; the Spurs fans are silent.

Spurs then come into the game as City tire. Trevor Sinclair and Paul Bosvelt looked absolutely shattered, they've run themselves into the ground. Just before they are due to go off, a lovely flick releases Shaun Wright-Phillips, who may be borderline offside but who cares by this stage. SWP chips delightfully over the advancing Kasey Keller and the 2,000 City fans go potty.

3-3, ten minutes to go. Who would have thought this possible? The television and radio commentators are now scouring the history books for anything comparable, the City fans are singing "We want four", and all you can see of the Spurs fans is them shaking their heads in disbelief.

Another Spurs free kick, and another fabulous save by Arason. Into stoppage time, and the ten men are harrying the Spurs players at every turn. Wright-Phillips goes on a mesmerising run from inside his own half to the corner flag. He loses the ball but forces Spurs to give it away. Sun Jihai sweeps it across the field to Antoine Sibierski who runs to the left edge of the penalty box before passing it wide to Michael Tarnat. He crosses in first time and Jon Macken, who has spent most of the last two years injured, guides the header into the opposite corner.

Tottenham 3, Manchester City 4.

Quite, quite amazing.

She's as nervous as a very small nun at a penguin shoot.

I was there. Cracking first half, just couldn't believe what happened in the second half, we coulnd't hit the target. I said to my mates after the game though that even at 3-0 down, the City fans still kept singing, which Kevin Keegan said after the match. I must say that I am embarassed to be a Spurs supporter this morning.
