Did Johan write the code for these forums? If so, why not just go with Ultimate Bulletin Boards?

Johan modified a program call Phorum, I am not sure why he did not go with the Ultimate Bulletin Board, I think they are very nice! Especially Dougs one!

Yeah, I use UBB on my site (for a group project that I'm doing) and I like it very much.

Perhaps this one was cheaper to use?

I know that the real verson of UBB goes for around $200. I'm using the demo right now and it caps the number of topics/replies to 45 and I don't plan on going over that.

Phorum is an open source software package(similar concept to Linux) which is free to download and can be tinkered with to the user's heart's content.

More information is available at: http://www.phorum.org

Doug has the full version, and the stuff he can do with it is very cool! I am not sure about Phorum, however maybe Johan prefered it for whatever reason!

I don't see anything wrong with this modified version of Phorum. It's very easy to use and has excellent interface.

Pacific I agree with you 100%, this forum is very nice, we are just comparing options, as the UBB seems less work then this one!

Thanks Ctbarnes!

Pacific, when I first posted this question I thought Johan had wrote the code for this forum himself. I was wondering why he had gone to all that work when there's an easier way of doing the same thing.

If he was scripting it himself, UBB is just a few fill-in-the-blanks type thing and then you're up and running.

I like the forum software that Johan is using and have qualms about it.

Johan posted a while back that the forums used to use a modified version of Phorum, but are now running a completely custom program though the user interface is based on the one Phorum provided.

This forum is great. I like it better than UBB. I downloaded a copy of Phorum myself to use on my website, if I can figure out how to configure it.

This is the best forum setup I have ever seen. Most message boards dont have the topic go to the top of the page with every reply there is. This message board setup is great!
