This has got to be the ugliest new car IMO.

It looks more like a minivan the an SUV

Would anyone here buy one?

I'm sure Alpha1 will blame this on GWB.

It really is ugly. Very unproportioned design. They aren't able to successfully use the Ram design cues on this SUV. Too bad, because the Ram pick-up looks great, in my opinion.

It kind of looks like they couldn't make up their minds between macho and sleek and you get the worst of both.

I just hope they make the new Grand Cherokee (allegedly based on the same platform) look a little better.

My bet is that it won't...I just hope that it doesn't look like an overgrown Liberty. What a chick car.

Can it get any uglier? Sure! Give the blueprints to Ford, I'm sure they can drum something up.

And is it just me or does the back of that thing look like the M-Class?

I do the vehicle buying for the Aviation Board here at MSY, and I just got a Durango for our Ops department last week (state contract thing, I don't have many options). It IS one ugly SUV. I'm going to talk them into Explorer's for next year.

Ever notice how all the SUVs are starting to look alike? there was a time when they all had their own style. Now a Durango is starting to look like a Suburban.. Except 5 years after you buy it the Dodge is rusted and falling apart and the Suburban has another 15 years left in it.

I'd do it if the contract I have to buy off of would allow it.....which it doesn't. Angry

Ya, it is a nice car, it doesn't really have the performance of a true suv thoug, it is more of a crossover. It has a lower clearance pretty crappy tires if you are going in snow. Really, really cool looking though.

Well, at least it isn't a Pontiac Aztec.

Do they even still make those things?

Agreed the earlier Durango was much better porportioned.

But Dodge seems to be going to that style, I am not a fan of the new full sized pickup either.

Unfortunatly, the Aztec is still in production.  Sad

I like the 1995-2000 Ram style. This new design is just overkill. I am sure we'll see many of these rugged vehicles in shopping mall parking lots accross America.

New Durango looks too blobbish.

Saw a new Nissan Armada in the flesh at a gas station; That aft slanting C-pillar looks like holy hell...horrible. The tacked-on looking rear compartment behind the C-pillar exeggerates it even more. Very un-integrated looking. Look like the damn thing was hit from behind in a demolition derby. I remember thinking to myself: Please, not before I eat!

If I hear Dodge naming another vehicle or another engine, "MAGNUM", I am going to lose it. Yes, I know they're marketing to the Dirty Harry types, but enough is enough. And the "HEMI" thing is getting old, too. And the new Durango looks like one of those freaky fish that lives three miles under the ocean, like you see in National Geographic.

I think it is a real Hemi but an aluminum block Hemi with iron sleeves.
I am glad to see that Dodge is putting this Hemi in to a brand new rear-drive STATIONWAGON!  Big thumbs up  Smokin cool

It will be called the Magnum.
I am sure RNOcommctr will rush out and buy one. Big grin

Yes, they actually do have cylinder heads with hemispherical combustion chambers. The chambers are not pure Hemispherical like it's 426 cubic inch predecessor were, rather a modified version. I would say the new Chrysler Hemi heads are similar to another 'hemi' namely Fords Boss 429.
