Is this that "spring offensive" talk that has been happening for a couple of weeks now.

Frankly I want to know where the OPS-SEC is on that operation.

Personally, I think this spring offensive is being politically motivated. I think Bush wants to have bin Laden as a trophy before the general election, and he's banking on this offensive to capture this guy. If we would capture this guy, no doubt Bush's numbers would spike way up, as they did when Saddam was captured.

Having said that, I'll have no problem with Bush's numbers going up if we catch that son of a bitch. I'm still for putting OBL in a cage, taking him on "tour" around the country for a year, like an animal, having his trial, executing him, than dumping his body in a cement mixer, and making him part of the cornerstone of the new WTC.

They have been looking for him for more than two years now.... what makes you think they'll find him soon? Perhaps he's not even in Afghanistan by now.... and with the money he has, he may not even look remotely close to the Bin Laden we've all seen...

Alpha 1, that's awesome.

it has been common knowledge in the intelligence community that bin laden is in the mountain region bordering afghanistan and pakistan. many intelligence agency bosses from western countries like germany, france, uk have publicly said so in interviews that this was what they believe. there has not been any big push to systematically locate him in that area yet, the TORA BORA fight was more of a cleaning up of the last remaining taleban.

And of course, if Bush catches him before the election, it'll almost surely be a landslide election for Bush. But that is very secondary to the goal of catching the ugly bastard.

Depends when he catches him, MD-90. If he catches him in a week from now, it won't impact the election all that much, because it's so far off from the actual vote tally. If he catches him, in say, September or October, then yes, it will probably swing the election to Bush.

Do I think he'll be caught? Sadly, I do not. but it sure would be nice to see.

My theory (take it or leave it) is somewhat that of Alpha 1.
It will be a huge political coup to catch OBL near election time.
I believe he is rat holed somewhere, and we know where. It is now a matter of timing before the capture is made. Possibly, he may take his own life before then, but as Saddam proved, most of these extremist's are too coward to even do that.

He has kidney problems, if he died because of that, likely we'd not know until the body was hidden, after which Al-Queda might eventually make an announcement.

If he was captured/killed by military action, obviously a political boost, but sadly it would likely make little practical difference.
Al-Queda is a very loose grouping of like minded organisations, some with greater links to OBL than others, all of which act almost autonomously.
If military action did get him, likely that Al-Queda would try all the harder to stage a spectacular, not they are not trying now, but priorities might change, for instance they have been working hard to forge links and stage attacks in SE Asia, as we've seen in Bali as well as foiled attempts elsewhere in the region.

Spring offensive or not, this has been announced for months, do you actualy think that he will just be sitting there waiting to be caught. He is probably now a black woman, living in Harlem

Wasn't this being said after Saddam's capture? But you're right, the election is secondary. Let's get this bastard.  Pissed

I just heard on the news that Osama was "BOXED IN" and that hey no EXACTLY where he is.

Listen Betty, don't start up with your 'White Zone' s*** again.

No, we know he's not in Afghanistan, as the area that they believe he's "boxed in" is somewhere in southwestern Pakistan. I do believe that we might be close to catching him since Tora Bora back in 2002...Anyways, the political stuff, that's for you guys to argue. I believe President Bush has done a hell of a job and that's that.
