Stones Or U2: Which One Would You Rather See Live?

I have seen both. Both in Toronto. U2 was outdoors at Exhibition Place and I think I was close to the top but it was a great party atmosphere. The Stones were at Maple Leaf Gardens and I think I was in awe as if I was watching History in the making. What are your experiences seeing one or both? If you have not seen either which would you prefer to see if it could only be one?

U2, no question. Have been lucky enough to see them in concert 3 times, and would go again in a heartbeat. Never have been much of a Stones fan, although I do have plenty of respect for them.

U2

One of the main reasons I say this is that I have seen them from the middle of the front row, and i have seen them from the back row, and both were outstanding. What great energy live every single time I saw them (6 times)

Stones,

U2 would not even be on my list. Too politcal, I'll listen to them play, but I don't give a rat's ass about their political point of view. Actually, that goes for any performer.

I'm gonna have to go with U2 on this one. I say they should return to Red Rocks, because now I am not only alive (I wasn't born last time around), but I am also within driving distance.

I'd see the Stones just on principal. Mick's voice can't be that great anymore though, I'm sure bono and U2 would give a much better show musically.

Seen them both. Best bet would be to have the Stones open for U2. Now that would be a show to see.

U2, easy. I'm a fan. However, my decision is more by virtue of my dislike for the Stones. I'm not a Stones fan at all.

I would have liked to see the Stones in the 60's or early 70's but now...

U2

I think they are the greatest band, currently.

Being a drummer myself I am hard pressed to pick either one since I appreciate the drumming styles of Larry Mullin and Charlie Watts. Yet I do like how 'The Edge' can make all those different noises form his one guitar; not taking away anything form Richards-Woods 'weaving' of two guitars..... I'd lean towards U2.

That's a difficult question because both are great bands but I would decide for the Stones.

For me it's very easy to choose between The Sones or U2.

I'd definitely say : U2!!!

Great music and a great band.

Especially Bono's voice and the great guitarplay by The Edge.

Both bands are great as far as I'm concerned.

But my first choice would be the STONES.  Big thumbs up

I love U2 as well but the Stones will always have a special place in my heart!

13-5 for U2 by my count, I thought they might edge out the Stones not crush them. I guess I'm old.

Are the Stones still alive?

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
25 MSYtristar : I saw the Stones in the Superdome in 1994 with around 70,000 other people. Hard to imagine anything coming close to that in terms of great atmosphere!
26 ScarletHarlot : U2. Definitely! Milo, you are only 15! What do you know about either the Stones or U2? You are too young for this thread!
27 Vikkyvik : Seen both, both put on a great show. However, saw U2 on the Popmart tour, and that was just friggin amazing. Would rather see them again than the Ston
