Favourite License Plate

Which country in your opinion has got the best looking license plate. For me it's:

1. Germany
2. Britain
3. USA

When I lived in New York, I loved seeing the New York license plate with the Statue of Liberty on it. It represents the greatest state in the union today and they should have never changed it to that upstate New York look. Also I think the license plate here in Colorado that represents the Columbine High School massacure is a great way to pay tribute to the victims and school (lived only a few miles away when that horrible thing happened.)

My favorite US plates are the ones that are mostly white. California, Ski Utah, Wisconsin, etc. I also like the old Red Arizona plates. Most of the centennial plates are too ugly, Idaho, etc. Especially the Utah on a light blue car. Ugh.

Florida has a great variety. KY's new one is kind of cool (It's that Friendly), I like GA's Wild Life and some other state's Humane Society Plates. And of course, I like UGA plates! Big thumbs up

I really like Arizona's current license plates and their use of the local landscape:

I'm not a huge fan of Slovenia's 1991-2004 design (A), which is closely based on Austrian plates (B):

...but I really like the plates Slovenia will adopt with its entry into the EU. They remind of the current German design (in real life more than in this picture):

The new Georgia ones are great, very classy. South Carolina is nice as well, perfect blend of colors. The new New York ones look pretty good too. Ugliest in the USA go to Massachusetts, Michigan, and Vermont.

I'm rather partial to Arizona's newest plate myself. But it tends to give the impression that Sahauros are a statewide plant. They're actually quite uncommon outside of Pima and Santa Cruz counties.

Way off topic though.

What is it with all the "is there a possibilty airline X will.." threads? The answer it'll is possible.

I started this exact topic a year ago.
My favorite is Northwest Territories, Canada.
Also Nunavut has the smame plate.

I also like the old blue & gold California plates from 1974-1986.
I have one on my car. Smile

Indiana's 1982-1984 plate is my favorite here in the United States.

However, I strongly disagree with the author's opinion that the font is "aesthetically hopeless"; I happen to think its one of the best license plate designs in the world. Maybe the author was referring just to the tendency of some characters to have different widths.

I really like New York's new standard plates as well as a "few" of the Florida specialty plates such as The University of Miami, Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches Assocation, Police Athletic League, The Panthers one, and the Challenger. I think the standard Fla plates suck though!

I'm also a fan of Arizona's w/ the desert background.

I love the USA plates, specially the ones from rural places, like Wyoming, Idaho,... i have many USA license plates, which look much better than the ones we have in Spain. Smile/happy/getting dizzy
