This thing came to my mind yesterday when I was reading about the terrible act in Madrid:

Ever since 9.11 we have seen a new huge and expensive safety costs for airlines and airports. These things costs alot of money for airlines because they have to pay for it themselves. No government is paying that. And It's not the airlines fault that the different governments around the world are running some bad politics some times.

But why is it only the airline industry who pay for this? Especially when you see trains, buses and ferries still going on with the same procedure like they did before 9.11. The passengers on these types of transportations don't pay security taxes.
In my opinion its even easier to blow up a ferry with 1000 pax on it in the middle of the ocean then hijack an aircraft.
It is so easy to smuggle explosives in a car and drive it on the ferry because cars don't get checked when they are driving onboard.

Should the government remove the extra taxes for the airline industry or should they reduce airline security taxes and split it over to all 4 forms of transportations?

In my opinion: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angry

Probably neither. I should think that IF the airline security taxes are successfully serving their purposes, leave them alone and (I really HATE to say this) add necessary taxes to the other modes. Regards...Jack

Airlines and the Government has never payed for any of these alleged "enhansed security" measures.

The costs are rolled over to the customer and the tax-payer.

OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

What I ment was that Should the government help the airline industry by paing som of it and put som security taxes on other forms of transportations to make it equal? Because at the moment its not really fair.

Still the same answer...probably a surcharge for the other transportation modes. In any event, the consumers/taxpayers will wind up paying for it as

My homeowner's insurance even has a premium surcharge for the "Federal Terrorism Risk Insurance Act". Regards...Jack

Ok, I see your point guys.... I wasn't thinking clear when I posted this thread. I was just so angry because the airline taxes are so high because of terror. And its true that the passengers pay for the tax themselves, but the airlines looses money on that because the tix are getting to expensive because of taxes, so the airlines has to lower the prices and thereby loose money because of this.

Actualy where the airlines are loosing are the trips people are not taking because they have decided that the extra time it would take to drive isn't as big of hit as the indignaty and the delays at the airport due to the TSA.

I have no idea why anybody is flying any airplane trip between towns that are less then 250 miles apart.
