HELP.

Tommorrow is my birthday so I decided to celebrate tonight since I have to work tommorrow night.

Anyway decided to treat myself to a seven and half dollar bottle of Belgian beer.

It is a Tripel Karmeliet from the Bosteels Faimly which according to the label has been bottling beer since 1791.

Anway it is bottled with a natural cork held in place with one of those wire cages. I got the cage off, but I can't seem to get the cork out. Do I just yank on the cork, with the risk of the beer overflowing, do I use a wine bottle opener or what?

HELP!!!! I really want this beer!!

Doh! Sounds like you have alot of problems there.... I have tried that beer before and that was without cork... But I just checked their homepage but it didn't work, so If I were you I would use a winebottle opener.. Or drill a hole in the side of the bottle and use a straw.. Big grin

Oh and yeah..... Happy birthday from here as well  Big thumbs up

Try twisting the cork as you pull it up. That way there will not be any quick pressure changes so it should not overflow then.

BTW, Happy Birthday! (its 9AM here in vienna)

I just saw the Michael Moore documentary "Bowling for Columbine" the other day.. Is it true that you get free firearms if you open bank accounts in some bakns? Or was it just a part of the act? Because as a european that looked really and I mean really strange to me....

Yes and no.

Some banks to offer incentives to open accounts and occasionally firearms are used as the "prize". But so have cars, money, bonds, Kitchenaid Mixers and god knows what else.

What was faked in that documentry is Mikey walking out of the bank with his rifle or shotgun, whatever it was, I personally refuse to watch that movie, until I get a pirated copy of it. Mikey intentionally did this to give the impression that you opened up the account, they handed you the rifle and you walked out the front door with it, which is not the case.

I took mikey about 6 weeks to get the permissions together to shoot that sceen. Normally the bank would provide a voucher for the firearm in quesiton, that the person that was opening the account would then take to the gun dealer (who must hold a Federal Firearms License) who would then do all the background check and the BATF 4473 Form that is required when purchasing a firearm.

You just don't walk out of the bank with then gun.

Like I said before, Michael Moore is the first person to win an Oscar for a piece of fiction.

Thanks for the reply L-188

Just as I thought... I couldn't believe banks were that stupid. And I must say I found that movie to be very interesting.. And I don't know much about american firearms law, but learned alot unless only half of the things said was false..

You aren't going to see banks in say New York or LA offering the firearms promotion. I haven't even seen it offered at any bank in Alaska, and we are hardly anti-firearms up here.

I have seen it offered by banks that where specificly targeting NRA members in either one of the two NRA magazines, National Rifleman, or National Hunter.

So I would say that these promotions are extremely rare, probably much more then Mr. Moore makes them out to be.

Ohh... That would be a really mess if they do that in NYC and LA. They will probably end up being robbed by their own customers  Big grin

Are you from Alaska by the way?? I have always wanted to go there.. I have seen so many nice pics from Alaska on the net and on TV... Is it worth going there on vacation?

A question just out of curiosoty...anyone who owns a Intratec DC9 (Named AB-10 after some modifications that made it harder to modify the gun to be used as a fully automatic i believe)..it's a 9mm semi automatic assault pistol that has fascinated me for some time. Man sometimes i wish that swedish gun laws would be as lax as U.S ones (at least in some states)...it would be a blast to be able to go out to some shooting range a sunday morning and just shoot up some things just for the fun of it.

AFAIK, in Sweden it is quite easy to get a collector´s licence for fully automatic guns. I used to know a few guys who owned old Stens, Tommy guns, PPsHs and Brens and took then to shoot at some range.

Wasn't a problem Tom.

I don't drink the cheap stuff, and when I do buy beer I usually only get one or two bottles of the good German stuff.

No Mika, not familiar with it.

L-188,

Obviously you´ve never been a builder in Germany! Even though regulations say that building sites are supposed to be dry, traditionaly you can´t seperate a builder from his beer. When I was working on building sites during my college days I learned how to open a beer bottler with about any tool, pliers, claw hammer (the German house carpenter´s version has a nice sharp edge to lift caps off beer bottles), cigarette lighters, yardsticks, screwdrivers, even just a wooden table with a straight edge would be enough (don´t do this at home, your Missus will let you know her displeasure if you ruin the good furniture  Pissed ).
Enjoy it anyway!  Big thumbs up
