So I got to bed at 2 last night, and now, around 5:30, I wake up to a shaking apartment and multiple "D-D-D-DOOOOOOM!"s. I mean loud as hell. Now, I'm not from the midwest, but I've never heard thunder like this in my life. I thought it was an earthquake (being from California) at first, but I was like nope it cant be, earthquakes aren't that loud.
Well anyways, now I have all this juice running through my system and am just waiting to get tired again so I can go back to sleep. Lightning is lighting up the room--oh..there it is again. Car alarms goin off, and ambulances running here and there. Whooo-wee.

Are you a recent transplant to the midwest? If so, get used to the spring/summer boomers like you had last night. All that arctic air plunging south, headlong into warm air from the south right over the top of you will provide you with many awesome displays of lightning and thunder. Embrace it!
