I'm thinking...

Tampa in 6
Boston in 7
Philly in 6
Toronto in 6

Detroit in 4
St. Louis in 7
Vancouver in 5
Dallas in 6

Round 2 :

Toronto over Tampa in 6
Philly over Boston in 5

Detroit over St. Louis in 7
Vancouver over Dallas in 6

Round 3 :

Toronto over Philly in 6

Vancouver over Detroit in 7

Round 4 :

Vancouver over Toronto in 7

OK - of course, a Vancouver-Toronto final would probably be the most exicting final in ages, I can definitely envision Vancouver/Detroit vs. Toronto/Tampa.

And in all honesty, if Vancouver doesn't win the cup - I hope any team but Colorado wins.

I think it will be one last hurrah for a great Detroit club. 4th Cup in 8 years would set them apart from the Colorados, New Jerseys, etc.

And let's face it, a Toronto-Detroit Cup final would be epic; two "original 6" teams with so much history and tradition.

Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

Is there any site where we can set up a pool? I'm already doing a fantasy playoff hockey thing for a-netters (there's another NHL post around here somewhere that invites us to join), but i'd like to enter a simple pool.

BTW, Wings are goin all the way.

I am thinking Vancouver in 5. I am still looking forward to a Vancouver/Ottawa finals but Toronto/Vancouver would be good too.

And they said Vancouver would do nothing without Bertuzzi. All I am saying is: NORTHWEST DIVISION CHAMPS!!!!

GO CANUCKS!!

I'll do the matchups I'd like to see, not that I necessarily think are going to happen:

Western Conference
Detroit over Nashville in 7 (series this year is tied 3-3, why change it in the playoffs?)
San Jose over St. Louis in 5
Calgary over Vancouver in 5. Underrated defense+great goaltending=upset
Dallas over Colorado in 7. Let's go Stars!!!

Eastern Conference
Tampa over NYlanders in 6. It's the Islanders, come on
Montreal over Boston in 7. Kovalev comes back for the Habs, Bruins once again (sadly) lose.
Philly over Jersey in 6. Ken Hitchcock is the best coach in the NHL.
Ottawa over Toronto in 7. Ottawa, team of destiny?

Conference Semi-Finals
Calgary over Detroit in 6. Calgary is my true team of destiny
Dallas over San Jose in 7. Another epic battle against our despised foes from California.
Montreal over Tampa in 5. See where I'm going with this now?
Ottawa over Philly in 7. Blame Canada.

Conference Finals
Calgary over Dallas in 6. We find out why the Iginla for Nieuwendyk deal might not have been in our best interests...
Montreal over Ottawa in 7. The Habs return to fight for Lord Stanley's Cup!

Finals
The Calgary Flames beat Les Habitantes of Montreal in 6 games! Jarome Iginla, the Dallas Stars' number one draft pick (11th overall) in the 1995 draft is crowned Playoff MVP, while Kiprusoff stymies all scorers with an unbelievably low GAA!

Hey, why not be different and pick a series nobody else would dream up?

The Islanders have beaten Tampa in three of four games this season and nine times out of the past twelve. The Islanders mobile defensemen match up well against Tampa's quick forwards.

JCS, I know the NYlanders have beaten up Tampa pretty well during the regular season, but once again, it is the Islanders. They aren't a bad team, but I don't think they can go anywhere in the playoffs yet. Unless, of course, Yashin and co. just start performing to the level they should (but I don't see that happening, plus I just don't like the NYlanders Smile)

If the Flyers can beat the Devils at all, they can beat them now. This season the Flyers were 3-2-1 against New Jersey, and Philly won the last three.
