I was just wondering if any A.netters participated in the nationwide "Day of Silence" today in support of gay rights. Quite a few people in my school, both straight and gay people, were not speaking.

Well I wonder how many Americans were aware of the National Eye Health month. I saw a thing about that at the UW-Madison hospital once.
Nobody cares.
The only day that ever gets some recognition in Germany is December 1st.

Today was Girl's Day in Germany. Girls get motivated to work in male dominated sectors. Woooooohooooooooooo.
I wonder when Boy's Day is where boys are encouraged to go into careers in oecotrophology or such things.

I'm not a gay either. But I do support homosexuals. I think they have the same right like the rest of us. I mean It's a free country we live in. So why should't they allow to be married to the people they love when we are?

What a cause to support ??? It's amazing how minor and immoral things could be important for someones !!!
Hell, let's talk about gay rights in Islamic countries.
Do you know of the gays in Iran who are executed?
Or what about the gays in Egypt who are held indefinitely without trial.
You are right though. Gay issues should be a minor thing. I mean who's business is it to know who your next door neighbour sleeps with? Obviously in most Islamic societies it is everyone's business, and is punishable by death.
TS-IOR, I generally will stand up for Islam, but this issue is really one you do not want to get me started on.

Oh yeah, I saw an article about that in the school newspaper this morning. Only twenty or so people did it...out of a school with 26,000. Gays should be treated equally, no doubt about it, but people should have a right to hold an opinion on the lifestyle.

Russophile, The former USSR was a great model of tolerances when it came to Gay issues.
Stalin was referred to as "Uncle Joe" with great affection the whole world over....

All I wanted to do was find out the traffic situation, so I turned on one of the talk-radio stations and the host was saying what a waste of time it is and how some people just want to be part of the cause du jour.
Whatever
Instead of paying $60 for the same right of a civil union as heteros, my partner and I, thanks to the Oregon Supreme Court, must now pay thousands in lawyers fees for the same right and it still may not hold up in court. (Side note: we missed the deadline by about 30 minutes) Astonishingly, we still must pay the same taxes, bills and fees as heteros.

No rubbish here- just trying to keep you honest when you rip the US - as you fondly dream of the former "greatness" of the USSR.
You love to throw stones at the US....
Any May Day parades planned for Saturday, in Australia?
