It still amazes me. I used to be 230 lbs and I decided to start running. I'm down to 187 now, which is still a little chunky. I LOVE it when some skinny built schmuck challenges me to an endurance test. 1/2 a mile into it he's on the floor heavily breathing... I can go for 14-15 miles.

You don't need a gym to lose weight. Walk more. I enjoy playing basketball and play a few times a week thats my active thing. I am younger so its easier for me to burn but you get the drift. Join a sports team.

I pay roughly 50$ a month at my gym, which actually pretty cheap, since they have a huge area with thread mills, excercise bikes & the likes (and 6 tv screens & a 3x3 foot screen - all tuned to different channels), a huge area with various weight lifting devices, a huge area with various work-out machines and 4 different rooms dedicated to different sorts of workout programs (ie. Spinning, Boxing, Yoga, BodyPUMP/BodyCOMBAT etc.). On top of that, each month, they have various activities you can sign up to, for free. That includes the best way to train muscles, the advantages of a varied excercise program, BMI measuring etc.
Not to mention, there's a fully equipped pool area with spas, saunas & steam room
I tend to go there 4-5 times a week, since I do spinning 3 times a week and general workout/weightlifting the other days.
But the best part, is that everybody knows everybody - so in two weeks, we're having a party for the people on the spinning team. Of course, that also means that if you skip training for a day or two, everybody is going to be asking where you were
EDIT: Of course, I could "just" go for a run, walk or a ride on my bike, but then I would miss out on the social aspect of going to a gym, where you know a lot of people.

Unlike most people, I am actually trying to put on weight, and though am not under-weight for my height, I am fairly borderline. I find that at the moment I am still able to run for about 4 miles without being utterly exhausted - pretty good considering I haven't been running seriously in about 18 months.
However, stamina is not the problem for me - I think I will bulk-up with more/better food and doing more in the weights room.
Any suggestions - and don't suggest drugs and hormone enhancers as I want to keep it as natural as possible!

No no no, you guys got it wrong, I know Running is free (I just got back from jogging actually) and I do situps/crunches most nights.
The fact is, there's not a lot you can do to get rid of certain parts of the body, like thighs or butts. I surely can drop weight in my stomach and upper body, but there are areas which will just look weird with the rest of the body while thin.
Plus, I need to pump up my arms, they've been lookin a little shaggy lately.

Seriosuly I think the term "overweight" is one of the most uverused and under defined words in the English vocabulary.
These ladies I posted would be considered overweight yet I don't think they need to loose an ounce.
Hell I am a bit overweight according to my doctor but I need beer to function.
