I am currently planning to take a semester off my usual academic life and spend 6 months abroad. As my university only cooperates with a limited number of foreign universities, choices and availability are very limited.
At the moment the best chance is the University of Gloucester in Cheltenham.
So, my dear UK A.netters, does anyone know Cheltenham/Gloucester or has even been there? I am particularly interested if there is anything more in those cities to enjoy, burs, pubs etc. ?
It seems to me that they are really small and (forgive me), kind of, hick places...

Gloucester is a great city, my dad lives not far from cheltenham, and we all used to live there a few years ago.
Gloucesters biggest claim to fame at the moment (other than the Mr Foster song) is that all the corridor scenes in the Harry Potter films were filmed at the Cathredral there, A great walk on a summers day that is.
They have a huge historic dock there, that is still in much use, and u can get boat rides down the river.
Cant recall on the bars and pubs, not been there in a long time, but going to see my dad in a few weeks, maybe even next weekend, dont know yet, if ya wanna know more, just send us a e-mail, might take me a while to reposond, but i will and will give u all the info u need

I went to college there! As I did and arts based course I was mainly hanging about the Pittville campus. It was a great college and a nice town. I left in 1997 so I don't know what it's like now. But I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanx all! All your info was very much appreciated!
I just talked to my SOKRATES/ERASMUS counselor and currently it looks like I will definately go to either Madrid in February 2005 OR Cheltenham in September the same year.
Which "Mr Foster" and song are we talking about?
GC: As I am a Geography major I will most likely end up at Francis Close Hall Campus, I guess.
