With outrageous gas prices all the way round how many of you guys still manage to fill your tank? The last time for me was March and at that time it cost me US$22. I guess now would be $25. How much for you?

Costs us around $60CND for every 450km driven. Its not like our prices are as much as the UK's and the rest of Europe's. If you live in North America and complain about gas prices, you are spoiled. Either STFU or sell the SUV.

Exactly my thinking...

If you can afford that huge gas guzzling vehicle, then you should be able to afford to run it.

Of course we still fill it up. I still have to get around don't I? It's also not getting any cheaper so...

It costs about $60CAD to fill our Intrepid and that will last for about 550 Km.

Cry me a river, it's your fault you bought a 23 gallon gas guzzling HUGE sized SUV for regular house-work-store driving... Mine was 25 or 27 for a full tank (13 gallons)

I am curious to see what mine works out to be, I need to do it tommory. Been hoveing about 40-50 a fill up but I usually do that with about a 1/4 tank remaining.

They just had a story on the news tonight about how the RV industry was being affected. The rental bookings didn't seem to be too badly hurt, but a lot of guys are dropping 100-120 into their tanks to fill them.

Of course they where willing to spend 150 grand on the RV itself so gas might not be that bad of concern.

Not all RVs cost $150K. My parents bought a 26 ft with a Ford 460 in 1994 for $14,500 (It was 8 years old). Back when gas was $1.25/gal, it was over $50 to fill the tank.

Our F-150 has dual tanks. 19 in the front, 16 in the rear. So that'd be about $62-64 to fill both (gas is $1.95 here today). One reason why the truck is only driven when it absolutely has to be.

My Camry has an 18.5 gallon tank and it'll take me 400 miles (city driving). Last week I paid $27 to fill it up, which was a first.

I fill my tank every 5 days. Today was $36.00 US. But, so what. I can only think if I were still driving the old Ford 80 miles per day, then I'd be filling up every 3 days for the same amount.

Damn, I want a Prius! I can deal with ugly cars but I need my trucks. Oh well.

It was kind of nice the past three weeks because I didn't have classes and therefore didn't have a real need to drive anywhere, but with classes for the summer comming up, I don't have that luxury again.

Before I was averaging about a tank+ a week.

What does it matter?
Sooner or later it's empty anyway.
Better fill it up every chance you get and save a few cents over the gasprice next time you're on the pump...

I paid €41 yesterday for 31 liters of gas, late last year that would have cost me €10 less...
I expect to pay €45-€50 before the year is out.

What choice do you have anyway? PT is no alternative for me. Car (despite traffic jams) takes me an hour to get to work, train would take 4 hours and cost almost the same despite skyhigh gasprices.

Sure I fill up. Despite the gas prices, I still need the car to drive to work. There are eally no public transportation alternatives here. If there were, it would certainly be something to consider.

When I bought my SUV 6 years ago I knew, KNEW, that I would be paying about $2.00/gallon eventually. I'm kind of suprised it took this long. It was a conscious decision to buy the truck. I'm happy I don't live in Europe, where its probably closer to $6.00/gallon now. Truth be known, I would probably buy something similar if I had to move to Europe right now. I know its not going to influence what I buy when I'm ready to replace.

Yesterday I paid 60€ when I filled up 58 liters of 98 octane. Next fill up will be somewhere around wednesday-thursday. I havent even thought about not filling it up. If I would take public to work, it would take an hour. By car it only takes 15 minutes. Then I also prefer using my car when going somewhere in the city instead of taking the tram.

I usually fill up when the tank is between 1/4 and 1/2 when not on a road trip; it capitalises on current prices (they'll still probably go up for a while), plus it's a safety net for not running out and there's less condensation in fuller tanks if you let that particular vehicle sit for a while.

Halfway intelligent folks calculate insurance, maintenance, fuel costs, etc. in the total equation when they choose a vehicle. As Air2gsx said, it was pretty
clear that fuel costs would be rising for quite some time now. That a person can't afford higher gas costs shows bad planning.

A local news survey calculated gas at $3.00/gal here in the U.S. in 1980 when adjusted for inflation. Right now I've seen it between $2.07 and 2.33 in the greater Detroit area. Of course I spring for the 2.07. I don't LIKE the 2.33, but it's not going to break me, either. Regards...Jack

I put 3/4ths of a tank in my car the other day, and it cost me $20 for barely 10 gallons of gas (Unleaded Plus was $1.98 a gallon), and I'm not driving an SUV. I'm glad I filled up when I did, as the same gas is now over $2 a gallon. I'm just glad I don't like in California, Oregon, Hawaii, Nevada, and Washington; these five states have the highest gas prices in the country.

I drive about 300 miles a week, and fill up my car every Sunday when I'm coming home from the driving range (there's an Exxon along the way). Normally, it costs me about $25 to fill it up, which isn't awful, but I would like it if it came back down to the $20 range (where it was last summer).
