The Decline Of Airwhiners?

This post is bound to tick a few people off (not that I'm one to avoid conflict), but I think most will agree with me.

I have been "lurking" at Airwhiners for a good 2+ years. When I first started reading the posts there, it was truly entertaining stuff. People would talk about the world-class idiots on Airliners and all was well and good. However, lately there has been a decline. A good portion of those idiots have "come over" and started causing their own trouble. It's really starting to look like another Non-Av forum...a bunch of 15-year-old kids trading really lame insults and bashing the same people over and over, mostly over stuff they know nothing about.

I think it's time for a house-cleaning over there. The premise of Airwhiners is great, but there are a fair amount of morons making the site somewhat less than enjoyable.

Opinions welcome. Flame away.

The answer is obvious. We need a new "whining" website -- this time about airwhiners, not airliners.net.

I too have been a "lurker" of the Airwhiners scene, and have had the sincere pleasure of seeing the sort of material you yourself post up there...especially the whole thread you started in my honor- I never told you how much I was touched by the effort, the sincere bullshit you managed to pull out of your ass. You abuse the meaning of the site, "parody"...smells more like libel to me.

I know that guys like Big777JetLover and YYGJoe are part of the problem you speak of, but judging by your well thought posts, you're part of the problem that you pointed out. Guys like DLKAPA and Delta767300ER make the place a little bit wittier. So why not just remove yourself from there, and we won't have this problem?

Sean did a good thing by starting a place to vent...perhaps I should finally join the party  Laugh out loud?

There's my opinion...go Dolphins Big grin

I've never posted on Airwhiners... but let me tell you.. I've peeked in a few times and I've had to have surgery at least 30 times for ROFLMAO at what goes on over there! Those guys are completely out of control! It's f*cking hilarious! I've seen people get flamed and roasted before.. but on that site you get char-broiled...with hordes standing in line with cans of gasoline!

BN747,

Check out the "Bitching about the crew" side....VC-10 is really a target, it's hilarious!

If you know who Big777Jet is...there's a whole forum dedicated to him, it get richer every day.

I'm sure this post is grounds for deletion, since I'm condoning the badmouthing of a mod lol....so go right ahead.

JBirdAV8r, I was one of the original members of airwhiners.net when it started back in August of 2001. I have also noticed an increase in bashing and fighting on the site. Some of the stuff that goes on I disagree with but the site was made to be like that so I guess its fair game. The only problem I really had on their was w/ a kid with the username of "CRJ". CRJ basically nailed everyone and then said some racial comments that earned him an IP ban. This topic will probably be deleted (By VC-10) but oh well.

DeltaGuy, Big777JetLover is pretty insane! I would like to find out who he really is. Thanks for the comments about me and DLKAPA making the forum wittier. I engage in some confrontation and bashing but I dont go in depth like Big77Jet VS. Big777JetLover. Yes, VC-10 has been a target lately and I disagree with his forum moderating, however I do not have any personal feelings towards him.

Airwhiners tends to vaccilate between the humorous (when things are going well on airliners), to nasty (when the first undercurrents of discontent are felt), to serious (when there are real issues to discuss). I think we are seeing the first steps of transition between humor-nasty right about now.

That said, I'm not going to step in and artifically try to raise forum quality or similar. Airwhiners was set up as a forum to talk about everything that airliners has as taboo and it will stay that way. However, with the exponential increase in traffic that we've seen since we started up just over 3 years ago the quality curve will never remain constant. That's why I've tried to segment the posting into different forums to compartmentalize it better, but I'm always looking for more suggestions.

Make the members write a paragraph. If someone does a paragraph with sentences consisting of four singular nouns, then you've found your culprit as to why airwhiners isn't as good as it used to be.

I actually find it flattering to be trashed on airwhiners. The only thing worse than being hated is being irrelevant. That I am hated enough for someone to comment about it under a pseudonym on another site warms my heart.

BN747...the safest place to have a heart attack is the airport, or so I hear..head over there  Laugh out loud ....and guess who Big777's personal moderator is? Yes, none other than VC-10- let the good times roll!

I think it's better just to sit and watch the 777JetWars happen, leave those two in a cage and watch the flesh fly. The art gallery is the best, Scotty's own airline sure seems like a killer idea. Just the thing you need when you need a good kick in the pants  Big thumbs up

I think for the most part, it's just people having fun, but some people take it a step too far, like Sean said, nasty. Alot of people in there can dish it out like a big dog, but can't take it right back.

Oh yeah...to further "exacerbate" the situation that this thread was started for, I signed myself up on Airwhiners last night....username is the same as here Big grin Looks like the "housecleaning" brought me in eh? See ya'll there!

DeltaGuy,

Libel, eh? That's bollocks. Name one thing in there I said about you that isn't true. Impersonating a licensed professional is a FELONY. I have several people who could go to court and testify under oath that you did what I said you did.

edit to add: A document constituting libel conveys an unfavorable impression that is UNJUST. Telling people to beware of your lies (errr, do all your alteregos on other websites ring a bell? MD88Capt and the like?) is therefore NOT libel. It is a fair warning to all involved.

Now I'm not going to beat you up like your former roommate (a GIRL) did, so no worries. However, I suggest you cease and desist from dressing up old pilot uniforms and lurking in public places. I can't BELIEVE you'd pull such a stunt after 9/11.

Whoa Jbird...down boy!

As for the hearsay on the pilot uniform....if you'd really like to know, that was to a church halloween party...ONCE...it wasn't exactly incogneto, but it's an inexpensive costume no less. So why is it any of your damn business? Sieple just enjoys telling you bullshit through the grapevine. How would you know anyways, you don't even live in Florida!

And it wasnt M88Capt either.....and you've obviously been talking to Jason Sieple, or Adam, that bitch's boyfriend...she's the one who charged ME after I called her a hoe...so why is this any of your business? Oh wait, you're the good ol CFI who doesn't even go to JU anymore! I welcome any stab you'd like to throw at me in person...maybe when you get off your little "mental holiday", we'll get to meet in person for a change, and you can stop hiding behind your know-it-all name here.

You're an asshole dude...I don't even know who you are, nor do I need to. Thankfully I'm headed to UNF next year. See you at Delta one day in about 10 years, if you've got the luck to make it over there, or if it's still there by then  Sad See you on Airwhiners first though, but I'm out on this thread...and I've got pleanty of people who will back me up that you're completely and utter "blowhard", as you called me. So why don't you just keep your eyes on your own business?
