With not being able to find the first thread to the Yankees, I have decided to create a new one for all Airliners.net Yankees fans. Let me start:

What do you guys think the Yanks should do with Contreas? With him in his last start giving up 5 runs in the first (yes, I know about the errors) with like 4 or 5 walks, what should they do? My opinion = try and trade him to Cleveland for some of their young starters, especially Sabathia, since I still think they need a lefty in that rotation.

Well, I don't think Yankees was walk with their base. It was nobody out either.

Send him back to Cuba... Seriously although I am only a small Yankee supporter, I think they should trade him somewhere whether it be Cleveland or not. I agree that they should look to find some young pitchers as well. Rivera isn't getting any younger although he is still a stud, and the rest of the rotation is in its 30's at least. The Yankees like to go out and pick up the supposed stars of the day, but I think they should work on bringing in some young talent to carry them into tomorrow.

And Delta767300ER drops yet another well reasoned take for hating the Yankees. And one he has only used about 4 thousand times already too. Gotta love fresh takes.

Fresh takes are a specialty of the Chowds.

I'd move Contreras so fast your head would spin... setting my sights on Ted Lilly (who they never should have traded) or Tim Redding, both depepndable 5th starters.

Plus, Rick Helling is now available after "retiring" from the Twins' minor-league system. I saw him pitch the other day against the Toledo Mud Hens on his rehab stint, and he looked pretty sharp.

Actually the fresh take was provided by Braves Fan. Almost as bad. Nothing like your team not selling out a playoff game, unless its because your opponents fans made the roadie to buy tickets. Perfect.

Rick Helling will pitch again, in the majors, and he did look sharp....but he looked sharp against the Toledo Mud Hens, not the BoSox, Angels, or A's.

Houston will not trade Redding, especially now that he is finally showing signs of being a solid starter. Lilly is still unproven imo, but would be better than Contreras. The Skanks will trade him, but they will have to eat a large chunk of his contract as well.

The Texas Rangers have a serious interest in Helling. He knows how to pitch in the ballpark here and has a history of eating up innings.

The Rangers/Yankees series this past weekend was heartening for the Texas fans, even though NY won 2 of 3. Texas outscored NY in the series and basically played evenly with them.

I don't know if this would work but, I am thinking maybe George should trade Contreas to the pittiful and horrible Rockies here in Denver in return for maybe Shawn Chacon because right now I still think Chacon is a very good starter and the Rockies shouldn't have moved him to the closer's position.

Why would Colorado take Contreras? He gets lit up like a Christmas Tree in Yankee Stadium, so in Coors Canaveral he will get annihilated.

KROC, the reason I think the Rocks would take him is because even if he gets up here in the Mile Hi City, he is still ten times better then what they currently have. I mean look at their starters : Jason Jennings, Shawn Estes (who got light up in the first yesterday), Aaron Cook, and Jeff Fasero.

And look who they have had before. Mike Hampton, Denny Neagle, Daryl Kile etc. All very good pitchers who got ate up at Coors. Hampton still isn't the same. Good pitchers die in Denver. And Contreras isn't even good, so it would be a horrible move for the Rockies.

How about for you to fall off the Yankees bandwagon? Being a fan of a team is one thing, but blind adulation is quite another.

Dude hates porn, but loves watching 9 men in tight pants and matching shirts prancing around a huge field. Yanksn4 - you the pitcher or catcher? Pinstripes? About as masculine as cleaning out your vag while watching Oprah. Yankee Stadium? Thanks for the memories... especially the one when I tried to drive there, but couldn't, then took the subway and got mugged because it's more ghetto than Jcs17's Fat Albert hooptie afro pick. All in the name of profits... Then, rather than trying to distance themselves from the shit area they're in, they started making green yankee hats and selling them in the ghetto so the little kids who are obsessed with the gang members would become yankee fans. Promoting the team through gang violence.

KROC, I am a real New York Yankees fan. I have been a fan ever since the day I was born in New York.

Second, some of the people on this forum really need to get help or something because you guys are just sick and weird when you keep trying to turn this into a sexual thing. I don't know if you talk to people my age like this or not, god I hope not, but come on; enough is enough. I am just trying to have good and intelligent conversations about the team and sport that I closely follow.

I'm in NY the weekend when the Yankees play the Mets. Anyone know where I could get some cheap tickets for the Sat arvo ?? Don't want to stay for the whole game, just go along for a couple of hours and get a few pics.

Think that the guys on the gate would let us go in just to take a couple of photos for a while then leave if we didn't have tickets ??

 Smile

Well good. Make the thread on the sport - NOT ONE BLOODY TEAM. You may not realize this, but quite a few baseball fans despise the Yankees because they represent what's wrong in baseball - unrestrained spending that's driving small-market teams out of competition, attempts to outright buy championships, and an owner who's a convicted criminal who would sell his soul to Satan to ensure that Yanks win another series. In case you couldn't tell, I'm one of these fans. Am I jealous of the Yankee's history? Nope. The Pirates have a fairly storied history that I'm proud of, especially men like Roberto Clemente and Pops Stargell. Even with the recent slump I can't gripe over 5 Championships, 9 Penants, and 9 Division Titles. But I don't blindly worship the Buccos. So do us all a favor. When you talk about baseball, take some time to remove your lips from Steinbrenner's schlong and talk about the whole sport - all 30 teams - and not just those pinstriped punks.

Yanks, you were 'born' a Yankee Fan? You came shooting out your mothers womb wearing pinstripes? Didn't think so, so shut your piehole. You are the biggest fair weather Yankee Fan on this board, with Jcs17 running a close second.

Delta767300ER - If anyone knows about sucking...it would be you. Maybe we should put more stock into your takes.  Insane

Here we go again.

Many teams in baseball are guilty of "unrestrained spending." It could be argued that any owner who doesn't get the best product on the field is ripping off the fans that drop 30 ducats or more to see that purposefully shitty team lose again and again.

Steinbrenner's an ass, and I really don't like this year's off-season moves and the organisation's lack of attention to the farm system, but he is the ONE owner in baseball that cares about winning the game instead of the short-term balance sheet. I'd say his spending and desire to winn has worked out pretty well in the long run.
