I have fallen in love with the A3 Sportback. I'd really like one too, but I just can't swallow a $25,000 car right now. And it does not seem that much smaller than the A4, at least the 1st generation model.
My big problem with the A-Class is that is still looks pod-like, even with the sharp body creases. I keep reading rumors that it will come over to North America, but as poorly as the C-Class sport coupe has sold, the A-class would flop in NA... especially given that Mercedes-Benz has not been able to capture a younger audience.

So the A3 is only about $25K? Not to sound like I can afford one, but I figured it would be more than that. Maybe in a couple of years after college!!!

I can say nothing other than these three cars suck. If I wanted to look like a total jackass while driving, I'd wear a Ben mask, buy a GEM Cart and save $20,000. These aren't "cars" and to put the respective brand labels on them cheapens the name. Total shit and a complete embarassment for these automakers. The C230 coupe was bad enough...

Seriously, I just think they look like total shit. A nice small car is one thing, but these look like something designed by a drunk, out of work dot commer.

My god, these things are ugly. I am a fan of the 318ti (or 323ti), and I do like the C230 Sport Coupe, but my god the A, and 1 series are butt ugly, I might as well goto the Geo dealership if I were looking at buying one of them.

Am I the only one who thinks the BMW looks an awful lot like the Mazda 3 ?
The Mercedes looks like an old roller skate though.
