Who is General E.L. Logan? He was obviously important because BOS is named after him, so what did he do?

According to a story I read on him, he really has no importance on aviation in Boston, or at all. Apparantly, he was an Army general who got KBOS named in his honour after some manoeuvring by his wife. The article was unclear whether KBOS was named in his honour posthumously.

I wish I still had the article but it got lost when I moved last year. As I recall it was named in the late-1950s.

I'll say! Considering he was the famous general that defended Beacon Hill from the British during the War for Independence (I had to call it that b/c my high school teacher didn't like the "Revolutionary War.")

I tried a search for him, to no avail, but I found out that the city of Lawrence was named after a Revolutionary War hero, so I figured it was most likely the same person.

Hmmm...that must have made his wife 175 years old, as she was there to help persuade law makers to name the airport. I think you maybe thinking of another general. Actually, I believe this general was involved in World War II or the Korean War, but, once again, I'm not certain.

Every time I do a search for Edward Lawrence Logan, I come up with pilot navaids and hotels near Logan airport.

If this helps narrow it down... BOS was renamed in 1956.

I keep getting hits from around the Civil War.
