A nice end to this latest meeting of the two most bitter rivals in baseball. It was obvious that Pedro is losing velocity, though. When he threw at Gary Sheffield, he didn't have enough stuff to send him to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Plus, Pedro's control was terrible. He was only able to hit one Yankee.

Pedro Martinez. What an ass.

This really was one of the greatest regular series ever played in the two team's history. And what else is better to tap it off than with the classic game last night and all that happened in it. If you still think that Derek Jeter is over-rated, especially after last nights game, then you know nothing about baseball and are just and idiot.

If the season ended today, would the Bosox even make the playoffs??? I think Oakland is ahead of them for the wildcard spot....Boston will never make up an 8 1/2 game deficit.

If the season will be good for wins with their games of New York Yankees. I am sure will win with the World Champions again into next few years.

The Red Sox suck. I got my Sports Illustrated and was unhappy to see Manny Ramirez's ugly mug on the cover. I think the Red Sox just need to accept that they suck and are never going anywhere. Much like the Cubs. However Derek Jeter proved that he has some serious balls last night. When he got up out of the stands he looked like he had just been in a fight with Mike Tyson. Only difference is he still had his ears.

I knew Pedro was going to hit Sheffield last night when he got the go-ahead hit and pumped his fist right in the face of Pokey. Sheffield calling time 3 times in the at-bat just as Pedro was about to pitch didn't help his cause, it was obvious he knew he was going to going to get hit. I liked how he was saying "you don't do that to me" as he walked to first. Either go visit the mound or shut up.

Gary Sheffield. What an ass.

Whats grat about it Yanksn4? That the Yankee's swept the Sox? Shut your fair weather band wagon jumping piehole.

I love it when the Chowd Nation gets kicked in the package, but the poor trade off is having to deal with fake ass Yankee Fans like Yanksn4, Jcs17, and that Delta guy.

Hey Chowd, speaking of "what an ass", nice impression of one yourself. I bet Pedro NEVER tries to show up anyone right? I bet that wasn't Pedro in the first game when the Sox were up taunting the Yankee Crowd right? Shef should have visited the mound and gone Izzy Alcanterra on him.

He does all the time, it's part of his game to intimidate on and off the mound.

Did he???

My favorite Red Sock of the night was Nomah. Jeter's picking his teeth out of Section 122, Row A, Seat 3 with one hand while holding the ball up with the other, and Garciaparra is proving his all-star caliber from the bench, where he chose to seat himself.

Nomar asked to play in the game but the trainers didn't want him to because his injured heel was sore.

Nice try though

Pokey did a great job at SS, as he's done all season. Even he crashed head first into the photographers pit after making a nice catch. All the Yankee fans were saying the Sox would never do something like that after Jeters catch, but they forgot about Pokey.

Then explain, pray, why he was sitting on the bench in the bottom of the 13th while the rest of his team is leaning against the railing on the top step of the dugout actually showing interest.

Jason Giambi has a parasite living in him sapping off his strength, but he takes it upon himself to grab a bat and try and make something happen. You're telling me Nomar can't at least walk a few feet to cheer his team on because of a sore heel?

My respect for him went way down last night. I don't care what his stats are, Nomar cannot hold a candle to Derek Jeter. Even when Jeter doesn't start, he's still always watching the game, cheering his teammates on, and is the first out of the dugout to bang fists with someone who scored a run. He leads by example, and everyone looks up to him for it, even people like Sheffield who have numbers that Jeter will never be able to match. Nomar just sits.

Everyone here in Boston knows that Nomar does not like his teammates and is a distraction in the clubhouse. I am sure Nomar won't be back next season, and he might not even be here on July 31.

Only Nomar knows...

Today the Sox traded for relievers Jimmy Anderson(Cubs) and Brandon Puffer(Padres). There are rumors of a blockbuster trade in the works:

Boston Red Sox would get: Odalis Perez and Carlos Delgado
Toronto Blue Jays would get: Cesar Izturis and minor-league pitcher
Los Angeles Dodgers would get: Nomar and BK Kim

We can only hope...

If Toronto makes that deal, they're mad. That, or Boston has to pick up all of Delgado's salary. No offense to Izturis, but this is Delgado we're talking about.

Toronto would love to get rid of his $20mil/year contract and get some promising young players like Izturis, they aren't going anywhere soon.

The Sox would have to pay Delgado $9mil this season, and they NEED a guy at 1B to go anywhere this season.

First, Delgado is still hurt and the Jays have already said he is not available. Second, I think Delgado, since he has a no trade clause, would rather go to L. A. since his great friend Green is there. Third, Brian Cashman of the Yanks would make sure Perez dosn't go to the sox.

Yanksn4:

A-Rod wasn't availible because he was Texas' captain. We all know how that turned out. The Sox and Jays have a good relationship, and anything's possible(I hope)

A good relationship between the two teams dosn't really matter in this situation because Carlos Delgado has the final word in all of this and besides as I said earlier, he would rather go to the Dodgers so he could re-connect with his best friend Shawn Green.
