Does anybody have a proven way to get rid of these annoying critters!?
They are tearing up my yard and eating any new growth off my plants! My 2 new little rose bushes try and grow and then something completely defoliates them over night. Also my hybiscus bush was completely devoid of leaves this morning! ARGGGGH!

I used to live in Spring Hill, FL in Hernando County, and we used to get armadillos sometimes. The mother would bring in her babies and hang upside down somewhere. My dad would always chase them away with a broomstick.
I think in order to get rid of them is to put up a mini-fence around the plants for a while. You can get the wire fences almost anywhere. If you don't like the wire fences, you can make a natural fence with sticks. I have a strawberry patch in my backyard, and our property is also on a rather large body of water, so we always get ducks. I put up a natural fence, and no they don't even try!

A quick Yahoo! search for "armadillo control" yielded these results:

Show a picture of you murdering an armadillo!

Or just put live animal traps with bait in them.

Capture them and put them in the middle of the interstate, so they can get run over just like the rest of their retarded cousins in Texas. Every 1/4 of a mile you see a dead Armadillo. I guess if you really hate the things you have quite a time I'm sure. I think you should capture them, make a video where you threaten to behead them (and then actually do so). Put a TV in your yard, and show the execution video. Terrorist seem to think it works on us Americans, why shouldn't it work for armadillos.

I must say, you've had me speechless with this one. I'm not sure whether to laugh because it's so creative or to be offended because of what is going on over in the Middle East. But either way, kudos for that statement.

Dallas is still east of the transition into the rolling hills and high plains of west Texas and the panhandle areas. Even if you go out to Mineral Wells and the Possum Kingdom Lake area you rarely see them. Go either north of west into OK or west texas and every 1 mile or so they'res a dead one on the road.

I lived in Dallas for just one summer, and although I never saw a live one, I definitely saw a few "Texas speedbumps" along 360 just south of the airport. Keep your eyes open and I guarantee you'll see a dead one by the side of the road at some point...
