Question to all you sports nuts out there. How far are you willing to go to support your sports team ?
Personally, I am travelling to every game my team plays this season. I had to miss one because I couldn't get tickets in Montreal. I already have my tickets to the rest and have also booked most of the flights or trains.

So far flown to Winnipeg, drove to Toronto, flying to Vancouver on Friday, Edmonton end of month, Calgary mid Sept, Regina end Sept, then trains to Hamilton and Montreal in October. I also hold season tickets (and have Grey Cup Tickets hosted in Ottawa)

It's one hell of a way to spend my vacation time doing 1 and 2 nighters all over the country.

The Islanders are my favorite sports team by far. Even living in Dallas, I usually go to between five and seven Isles games per season. This past season, I saw three games on Long Island, one game each in Dallas (my home), San Jose, and Anaheim. This season, if there is one, I plan to go the Minnesota game since I'll be living in North Dakota, and probably a few games in New York.

NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes

NBA: I could care less now

I am very supportive of my teams and will support them even if they lose every game. And just for the record I am tired of all these damn bandwagon Yankee's fans (I think we have one on this board to)

Seattle Mariners - Suck. Not just this year, but for a long time. 116 wins and get knocked out in the first round. I think they need some talent. If our friends across the Pacific would open up their wallets....nah, they will still suck.
Seattle Sonics - Now that they got rid of Gary "The Mouth" Payton, I actually can tolerate them.
Seattle Seahawks - Good things come to those who wait. We've been waiting a long time. I am hoping for good things this year.
Vancouver Canucks - Can't wait for the season to start. Hopefully there won't be any moronic neck breaking incidents this year.

The Seahawks had a pretty good year last year, The playoff game between Green Bay was the best game of the season not including the Super Bowl. Matt Hasselback is a hell of a QB and I wish him all the best luck.

You are just mad because My New York Yankees Swept the Braves in 1999 and that we came back from two games in 1996. Also, if you want to talk about bandwagon fans, what about the Braves? I would think that it is embarrasing that there was more Chicago Cubs fans at Turner Field than Braves fans.

The Islanders are my favorite sports team by far.

At least I know now that I am not the only New York Isle's fan on this website. The Isles on my list are number two (behind the Yankee's and ahead of the Giants) and since I moved here to Denver, I only get to see them once a year. Unfortunately, the last time I was ever in the Colisiumm was four years ago. Anyway, I try to keep up and I am always supportive of them.

Being from the Detroit area originally, if it weren't for the Red Wings, "my" city would be the laughing stock of the professional sports world (OK OK, so the Pistons finally had a good year, too). You can't be from Detroit and not be a Wings fan and, since moving to CA, I have flown back home on numerous occasions just to see the Wings at The Joe and then flown back the next morning (NWA should name a plane after me). My motorcycle has a personalized plate that reads RDWNG13 which, seeing as hockey is the #5 sport in California (women's tennis ranks higher!), draws a lot of questions from people out here.

First of all I didnt know you owned the Yankees, Second of all the 99 World Series means nothing to me in this day and time. Sure I was slighty upset about it then but I moved on. The Braves had some bandwagon fans back in the early to mid 90's but not nearly as bad as the Yankees. It doesent bother me if their is more Cubs fans at Turner Field than Braves fans, Its not going to change my opinion.

I hate to admit it, but I live and die with my favorite Detroit team of all...the Tigers (I'm surprised I am not dead).  Smile Even when they had that horrendous 43-119 record last year, I went to 5 games and watched at least one inning of every game that was televised...I love the DTW Tigers. Seeing the Red Wings win 3 Stanley Cups in recent years....great. Seeing the Pistons win 3 NBA championships in recent years....wonderful. Seeing the Lions show up for all of their NFL games year after year...fabulous. Seeing the Tigers win the World Series in 1968 and 1984...not enough words do describe the thrill. Hopefully, another one is not too far off.

ElectraBob, I gotta give you credit for having cajones. Isn't it sad what's happened to the Tigers over the years? I'm still pissed at Bo for forcing sports best all time play by play man to retire.

Anyway, way to hang in there. I don't know if we'll be seeing Tram around for another year but hopefully, whoever is at the helm, will have what it takes to lead the team to at least a pennant.

As a bostonian, i don't have much to support, besides the Patriots. Every year, the red sox get to the playoffs and then right as they are about to win they screw up. (Grady Little, why didn't you pull pedro!?) The Bruins, well, the Bruins suck. So do the Celtics. The revolution did got to the big game 1 or 2 years ago. (I was there, I saw it). But really, the only team we can hope to win are our beloved patriots. They probably won't win this year, but hopefully we'll get our third Lombardi trophy next year

ps. you can guess my opinion of the NY Yankees!  Pissed

Well, not much in Chicago anymore...

NBA-I stopped watching and caring after Jordan left. And I really don't like the sham that it's become. If you don't believe me, look at how Italy managed to whoop our team. I was a die-hard Bulls fan...and I did just that, died hard, died REALLY hard for the past seven years. I've just given up on them.

NFL-Ahhh, the Bears. Such a shame the 2001 season was either a flash in the pan, or a decent team that got full of itself and fell hard on its ass ever since. Still a Bears fan though. I admit however, the upcoming season might not be as good. Someday though, we'll repeat '85.  Big thumbs up I am still pissed off about what they did to Soldier Field though!  Angry

NHL-Not a big Hockey fan, but I did see a Blackhawks game on New Year's Eve. Yup, watched the Hawks climb back up to tie the game and send it into overtime...then loose to the Canucks. I don't care much for the Wolves.

MLS-Chicago Fire...now that they have matured, they are starting to behave more like a true Chicago team...

MLB-Not much of a baseball fan, but if I had to choose, I'd stick with the Cubbies. Even though they choked last season and have as much of a chance of winning the World Series as a weasel surviving getting sucked into a jet engine. (See my signature  Big grin ) As for the Sox...no different than the Cubs. Besides, they're sellouts...Comisky Park USCellular Field.

And that's all I can think of at this moment.

MN Twins: Always been a long-time fan of the Twinnies...who can forget the 7-game 1991 Series against the Braves with the hidden-ball trick. The good ol' days when Hrbek was a Twin, and Kirby Puckett hadn't succombed to glaucoma.

MN Vikings:

I am a HUGE fan of the Vikes. Being a Vikings fan ain't easy. Being a Vikings fan in Packer country is like sledding through hell. Unlike what most stereotypes show the Packers ilk to be like, they're really a rude, obnoxious, colossally prickish and condescending fan base.

Plus, as a season ticket holder, I am down the ladder two notches. To make matters worse, Red McCombs instituted a hugely gay slogan: Purple Pride. All season ticket holders got these stupid purple-pride stickers for windows, and such. Plus, the Humpty-Dump is decorated with purple-pride crap as well.

Oh well, Moss rocks!

F**K the Pack!

Mlsrar- You're just jealous of us Packers fans!  Big grin

How many Lombardi Trophies are in that trophy case, BTW?  Laugh out loud

In terms of my love for my Green Bay Packers, it would be tough to quantify what my 'level of support' is. Considering I was put on the season ticket list the day I was born and I have a tattoo permanently affixed to my flesh, I'd say that counts as being a fan. Go Pack!  Big thumbs up

AZ Cardinals: I watch them on tv but have yet to go to a game. Mostly because its so expensive and Bidwell is an Idiot.

PHX Suns: haven't been to a game in years, but I will watch them on tv if bored.

PHX Coyotes: Usually go to a few games a year, made all the harder by living in Baton Rouge most of the time.

AZ Diamondbacks: Probably my favorite local sports team although I like hockey and football better then baseball. They tend not to suck as much as the other teams...well except for this year.

LSU Tigers Football: Season Tickets for the second year in a row, I never come home from the game being able to talk. Most of the time I don't even come home sober.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Louisiana Ice Gators: Only made it to 1 game last year unfortunately, but hopefully I can get to more this year. Its to bad the Baton Rouge Kingfish folded the year before I got to Baton Rouge. They would have had a new season ticket holder, although my several hundred $ would not have saved the team. Minor league hockey is the 2nd best sport behind college football. Its hockey played by those who love the game, not by a bunch of prissy millionaires.

Phxairfan - another ECHL fan! Rock on! The Kingfish packed their bags and are going to start play next season as the Victoria (B.C.) Salmon Kings. Naturally I'm an Inferno fan and hope to see them go back to the Kelly Cup finals again, only this time to come away as winners!

Favorite teams: Chicago Cubs

I'm a huge Cubs fan. I was at Wrigley for Game 6 of last year's NLCS (the infamous Bartman game). I've been to a couple of home games this year and have followed the team to St. Louis and Milwaukee. I have a room full of Cubs memorabilia. Simply put, the only thing I'm more passionate about it is aviation (and its pretty close).

I'm also a big football fan, favorite team being of course, the Bears. I'm planning on going to at least one home game this year, and maybe a game in Detroit or even Tampa.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles - Getting tix was virtually impossible when I was home so I just watch my beloved birds on TV and/or also listen to the radio broadcasts when applicable...

NHL: Florida Panthers - Go to probably 5 or 6 games a year, mostly in Florida at the Office Depot Center but also seem to catch them at least once on the road...last year we saw them take out the Flyers in OT at the Wachovia Center, and this year I'll probably see them take out the Avs at the Pepsi Center

NCAA Football: Colorado Buffaloes: GO BUFFS!! Season tix of course, so I go to all the home games at Folsom Field, and watch all the road games on TV...I'd really like to go on a road trip to see them play an away game in person though...

NCAA Basketball: Colorado Buffaloes and UNC Tar Heels: Season tix to the Buffs of course (a steal at $20 for the whole season), despite them being just a mediocre team...its good cheap fun but this season we are headed for the cellar since we lost Harrison and Morandais...as for the Heels, Ive been a fan ever since I was a little kid, one of my sports dreams is to see a game at the Deandome, but so far that hasn't happened yet...
