In a little over an hour an epic duel will take place in Ohio for the Semifinal match of the Roger's Cup, one of several events leading up to the start of the U.S Open. On one side, we have the crafty veteran Andre Agassi, who is proving yet again why he is one of the all time greats of the game. On the other side, we have Andy Roddick. Being one of the best players in the world, Roddick has the most powerful serve in the game.

Let's get ready to rumble!

And by the way...I hope Agassi smokes Roddick. Andre all the way.

If it were last year I would say Andre would win for sure, but Andre is having his worst year on tour since '98, I think. He hasn't won a title that I'm sure of this year, lost in the first round of Roland Garros to a nobody, failed to defend the Australian Open this year, a tournament which he has dominated the last few years, and lost early at Wimbledon as well. I think this is the farthest he has gotten in a tournament in a while. I don't care who wins between the two, just as long as one of them defeats Hewitt in the finals. I can't stand that kid.

BTW, have you all seen the television commercial with the little kid on the tennis court with an instructor? Funny commercial! I'm sure that really isn't Andre's son..........

Tiger119, that really is Andre's son in the commercial. They obviously did some things in the commercial to make him look better than he is, but it wouldn't surprise me if he can hit the ball at that age. Look at the gene pool he is from...Agassi and Graf...can't get much better than that when it comes to tennis.

By the way, that was one of the best matches I have ever seen. I wish I taped the dame thing.  Sad

That was one of the best games I have ever seen!!
Agassi vs. Sampras. And Sampras won. Now that was amazing!  Big thumbs up

Well. Personally I wanted both to win. I have always respected those 2 guys. They have really showed the world what tennis is. And both of them are down to earth as well.

Well, Roddick was flat & wasn't at his best. Can't blame him though as he's played a lot of tennis lately. He's looking strong to retain his USO title....hopefully we'll see a Federer vs. Roddick final again.......

It was good to see Roddick get his handed to him by Andre. Despite Andy not playing at quite his usual caliber, the game was still exciting.

Why didn't this go to 5 sets?

MaverickM11,

I'm not sure. But I think the only game which goes to 5 set is the final.

No, it isn't.

See, for example, http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/hiestand-tv/2004-07-08-hiestand_x.htm.

Why didn't this go to 5 sets?

5 set matches are generally only for Grand Slams and selected grandfathered finals at generally old European clay events.

I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.
