Joseph Smith a farmer in East Lyme, Conn. had a problem, one that had faced farmers for thousands of years. His corn crop was being eaten by geese.
So Farmer Smith did the same thing that farmers have been doing for the same thousands of years...He decided to put some scarecrows up in the field to scare the birds away.
To make the scarecrows he used some of those white Tyvek hooded coverall suits that you see asbestos removers and pesticide and paint sprayers wear. Just fill them up with hay and stake them out in the field. Simple, reuses the suits for another purpose.
He was ordered by the state department of Agriculture to remove them from the field because of complaints from guards and visitors to the J.B. Gates corrections Facility. They complained about the resemblance the scarecrows in their white tyvek coveralls had to Klu-Klux Clansmen.....
Anybody else think we are getting just a little oversensitive here?

How the hell do geese eat corn in the field? Most corn stalks I've seen are over 6 feet tall. What the hell do they do? Hover? And a how do they get at the corn? That can be hard to do with two hands, let alone a beak and two webbed feet?

Maybe a simple straw hat would satisfy everyone....I agree that this is idiocy and that nobody should have the right to tell this farmer to take down anything on his property unless they can prove it violates a law. I wonder what the department of agriculture can do to the farmer if he refuses.

Maybe if he painted the scarecrows in black face, i could see an issue. But, there really isn't anything wrong with scarecrows made from tyvek suits, maybe he should use the blue ones like nasa and Kerry use or a flight suit like GWB.
