My household has 2 Desktops and 2 Laptops. In addition, I can also access the internet from my Sega Dreamcast (and to a lesser extent, by mobile phone).

I have a desktop and a laptop. My mom has a desktop. My brother has at least one desktop PC, a couple of Macs and some big server-type computer. He's got computers and parts of computers all over his bedroom so I'm not exactly sure how many he has.

We use 2 of the 486s for wordprocessing, 1 as a dedicated internet downloader, and the notebook as the pc part of a pc-based GPS.
As for the Pentiums, the 2 laptops are used for just that...laptoping (is that a word?). For the desktops, One is the server for our LAN, one is used to do simulations of electrical curcuits, programing, and the such, one is used for secure/important work such as taxes and internet purchases, one is my personal computer, and one is my dad's personal computer.
They are all used for other things also, but those are the general uses of them... yes, this house is out of control.
