What do you reckon the best film ever made was. I'm going for the original star wars because it was so ahead of its time.

The term Broadband comes from the two primary uses of high speed internet downloading porn (broads) and MP3s (bands)

Definitely a subjective question. According to the American Film Institute, the greatest American film ever made was "Citizen Kane". I haven't seen it as of yet.

My two favorite movies are...

"Amadeus": Brilliant acting, interesting plot, costumes and score were flawless... I could go on and on. I just love this film.

"Fargo": It still makes me laugh. In my opinion, the best casting done for a film ever, I couldn't imagine any character in that movie being portrayed by anyone else.

I'd say it's between the LotR trilogy, Titanic, or Gone with the Wind.

Best movie ever doesn't exist! Movies from different genres cannot be compared! LotR cannot be compared to Citizen Kane and to hold a horror movie to the Godfather would pretty stupid!

I know it's only VfB but I like it!

I'll have to agree with:
--The Best Years of Our Lives
--All About Eve
--Citizen Kane
--also partial to American Beauty and Rebecca

LOTR--gimme a break---it's a CGI film---no actors needed. Grossly overrated.

Dr. Strangelove. Kubrick at his best, Peter Sellers in 3 different roles, all played credibly, Slim Pickens playing the cowboy hat-wearing Major T.J. "King" Kong, and the first on-screen appearance of James Earl Jones. Combine that with fairly biting satire and I think it's one of the best films ever.

Others I'd have to award props to:

2) Godfather
3) Memento
4) Bridge on the River Kwai
5) Around the World in 80 Days (the 1956 Michael Anderson version, not the crappy Jackie Chan remake/crapfest) based on the sheer logistics. The film featured 43 actors in cameo roles, required over 34,000 costumes, involved over 8,500 animals, was shot on 140 sets spread out over 6 studios in Hollywood as well as studios in London, Hong Kong, and Japan, requiring the cast and crew to fly over 4,000,000 miles.

It´s completely subjective. I can acknowledge many other people´s favourite films as "well made", but many of them leave me cold and unimpressed simply because they don´t "push my buttons".

One of my favourite films is Blade Runner for its combination of an interesting idea, dense atmosphere, great visuals and outstanding soundtrack.

But I would never claim that everybody would "have to" like it as much as I do just because of that.  Wink/being sarcastic

Never was a fan of Star Wars or any Sci-Fi movies.
