Way back when I was in Elementary and one or two years of middle school I was in Odyssey of the Mind, and I loved it. Later in middle school I was in drama, which I also loved.

Detonated lots of stink bombs, had the ever present whoopee cushion, passed lots of notes, and the usual gamut of immature teenage stuff.
Extra curricular:swimming. 200/500 free was my best.
And, of course, homework and sort-of paid attention in class.

Went to a tiny school where eveybody did everything... and I did everything.
From football to speech, school newspaper, art contests... but my favorite was track & field (yeah, I'm a little skinny guy)

I did Odyssey of the Mind until 5th grade, when someone in Texas sued cause their kid cut himself with an exacto knife, but it was a blast until that.

Worked my sorry rear end off studying and making good grades, as well as writing for the newspaper all four years, being an editor for three of those years, and playing hockey for four years. Both of those activities, in addition to the studying, meant that my weekends were shot, either because of total exhaustion on my part, or no free time.
I was the classic nerd/dork who ate, breathed, and slept academics. People tell me that all of this paid off (i'm headed to Yale in a week), but i am not so sure as my academic triumphs and pluses associated with it were few and far between, and didn't even come close to equalizing the amount of sacrifices i had to make socially.

I was an all around kid. Well, I just wanted to have my picture everywhere in the annual/yearbook. I was a dork, jock, & freak. NHS to Football to Ceramics. I was in a lot of clubs, teams, leagues, etc... And yes, just to have my picture everywhere. I was pretty good in everything, surprisingly.

Tried to maintain sanity until I could get the hell out. Got out with a 1.9 GPA. Never went to college, but did go to a 3 month drafting course at a tech school, and now work in engineering at a large commercial airplane company.

Barely graduated with a 3.0, don't ask me how. Maybe getting a 27 first time on my ACT had something to do with it? Anyways, did wrestling for a year and suffered a major concussion and shattered tailbone and did band the rest. My senior year I was the top dog trumpeter in our conference festival (not related to district, state, etc.) and pocketed the Glenn Miller award for outstanding contributions to jazz ensemble, J.P. Sousa award for outstanding musicianship in wind ensemble, and the department chair award for overall leadership, musicianship, and contributions to the program as a whole. Now I'm lead trumpet at my university on top of flight studies. Damn music doesn't leave me alone .

9th grade: too far back to remember..all i remember is i got good enough grades that my parents weren't at me, plus 1st place science fair!! ...saxophone / sitar
10th grade: working pretty hard, getting not so good / not so bad grades, doing track and field, etc etc the usual stuff...saxophone in jazz band and sitar...community service...
11th grade: being an idiot in choosing hard as heck classes and working my @$$ off, yet not doing well :-(...track and field...usual stuff...end of year grades...let's not go there :-(, but parents were X 1000 at me...most stressed time of my life perhaps, other than college apps (12th grade)...saxophone in jazz band and quit sitar middle of year...community service
12th grade: being an idiot in choosing art history, my worst course which i sucked so badly at and had to work hours and hours and hours on to do DECENTLY, running...oh yeah, also college apps which SUCKED SO MUCH...that was one of the worst times of my life...saxophone..ended up choosing the college that I had no intention of even applying to at the beginning of the year, but happens to be the one that is the best fit for me, and one that I have gotten to love a lot...funny how things like that work out in the end...community service...
overall high school experience: best times of my life, and my worst...learned a helluva lot about life and choices and stuff..

Didn't get the best of grades, that being said I went to a really difficult private high school in Atlanta. Played football all four years, ran track for my first two. Lettered in football in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade as a kicker, lettered in 10th grade in track (pole vault). Played hockey on a club travel team outside of school until the middle of my junior year--then I got too old.
Besides that though, I probably lettered in drinking in 11th and 12th grade. Never drank before then, but after...well...its all downill from there

I swam freshman year (100 Fly, 200IM were my two best strokes, I also competed in 100 Free and 100 Breast) I quit swimming because of disagreements with my coach (he was a giant asshole, after a big fight I got out of the pool and never came back) I played football my Sophomore to Senior year. I was a Right Guard for a while, then I dropped weight and got moved to Tight End and Def. End. I started to play rugby my senior year. I stacked that with football for about 6 months.
I openly admit I did alot of drugs my senior year. Not something I'm real proud of, but live and learn.
I was in the Fellowship of Christian athletes (FCA) I more or less stopped going because I wasn't exactly living a Christian life, haha.

I finished High School at King Edward VII School, Johannesburg SA - had a great time. I worked my butt off in Standard 9 to get an A average, because my folks promised I could go on the school trip to Europe that summer (European winter) if I got an A average. Fortunately our maths teacher was young, blonde, nubile and terribly sympathetic (way to inspire 16 year old boys, ma'am !) so I got my Maths grade up to B - I was always crap at Maths.
In my class everyone had sports or academic colours (kind of like letter jackets for sports like Rugby, Cricket, Hockey etc, or for Academics) I got mine at the end of Standard 9 (phewww - didn't want to be the only one without).
In Matric (Standard 10) I did Drama and Debate - produced the House Play in the drama competition (didn't come last, but pretty close). I did no sports, so there was no hope of being a prefect (they only had one token non-sports player prefect each year). I got an A average in my final Matric exams (got the highest grade in the Province for English and Latin - ta-daaahhh !)

I loved high school, ahh, Class of '98... so loud and as my 10th grade English teach put it... "obnoxious".
I tried to run for student congress (vice president) when I was a junior and got all the required signatures, but knowing me, I lost the forms and figured oh well... then five months later I found it under the passenger seat in my car.
When I was senior, I was finally smart enough to get an invitation to join NHS.
Then the senior mock elections I was voted "future soap star" and "host of his own talk show."
