Her music is ok, at least in terms of bubble gum pop music. She is a decent vocalist, but it isn't like she is a great song writer or all that gifted creatively. At least Britney and Christina have evolved quite a bit since their debuts. Jessica really hasn't.
Because of this I would hasten to call her a "total package." While she has a pretty good face and a nice top shelf, she doesn't have much else going on.
If you want to talk about young female musicians then perhaps you need to look at Norah Jones if you are trying to find a "total package."

With two young daughters at home, I get to hear a good deal of "What's HOT" in music, these days. Now I know how my Dad felt when I used to crank up ELO, back in the 70's. Yeeeech!!!
But, back to Jessica Simpson. My girls have none of her music, and don't even talk about her. They had some "Brittany Spears" stuff a while back, but I guess she's fallen out of favor with my two. I've seen that "Newlywed's" show on MTV, and agree she's mighty easy on the eyes, but the "dumb blonde" act gets a little old, fast.
She'll always be #3 in the young female pop trifecta, I think. Right behind Christina Aguillara, and B. Spears....

Simpson is a no-talent hack, that can sing about as good as almost any woman in their own shower. She's a bleach blonde, fake titted, media creation with the IQ of a piece of burnt toast.
And her "music" if you want to call it that, is predicated on vapid bubble-gum pop bullshit that has one demographic only. Style over substance, just like most pop music today.
