A bit unfair of Reyes, as Scotland are 102 places higher than San Marino in the world rankings... good for a laugh though.

Still the Scots can take comfort in that they are nearly as good as Qatar and they're only 30 places behind Jordan in the world rankings....

Still, better to be Scottish than Hungarian, Austrian or Ukrainian all of which are even further down the FIFA rankings...

No, no, no no no. It isn't unfair at all. I mean, Reyes is a professional footballer, and knows what he is talking about. Therefore, when he says Scotland and San Marino are about the same, we should listen to him. He's absolutely right.  Big grin Big grin

Spain is a funny one. Quite how they can be so spectacularly unsuccessful takes serious effort.

To what level are you going to take this living in the past, Andreas? Are you going to wax lyrical about the Kaiser? Tell us how Bismarck is the world's best leader?

Still, given that we have established the anthropological link between the Gemrans and the Scots, we can clearly see the reasons behind Germany's international decline. Today, out on the first round, tomorrow, we'll see "German football team: "Just like Andorra" headlines. Big grin

Does it now? Well YOU are the experts Big grin

Given the fact that the brilliant English team did last around 24 hours longer than the clearly worst team Germany ever sent to a big tournament, let alone the infamous statistics (you know 1 cheated-0-0 vs 3-4-3) I'd wait ..oh let's say another 20 years and at least 2 big wins for England until I started boasting, dear Banco  Big grin Big grin

Currently the word for England is: Just like Spain...and that is not very flattering for your boys.

And I'll go back as far as 2002...that's enough for you guys  Big grin
As for the obvious link between German and French outcasts and several generation if incest and the founding of England ..I'm not sure if you really want to discuss these historical facts...do you?  Big grin Big grin

Slightly unfair, but I do feel with the way the Scottish national team are playing they should be lower in the official rankings than they are. Still, Spain aren't exactly a great team, they have some good players but I don't think they've ever been as good as anyone makes them out to be.

I was told that Celtic is composed of people of Scot origin while the Rangers are descendents of the Picts.
Can someone shed light on this ?

If true, it could partially explain why the "national" team is sucking.

Hey - this guy's onto something!

We can save all the worlds problems if we simply focus all our hate and anger on San Marino! Wars will be prevented, the French will be spared....this is the dawning of a new era.

Yet I must correct the info in the original article. San Marino is a republic - and was one of the first to become so in modern europe - it is not a principality as the article suggests.

I disagree ! In the true a.net spirit of conflict, mutual suspicion and blind impassioned bigotry, I shall start a End San Marino Extinction campaign (or ESME for short), to fight this evil capitalist globalisation attack on an innocent and non-threatening independent state with wonderful duty free shopping !

Not to forget: GP San Marino has been since years the first European GP of the season...now doesn't that count for something???

Besides: the Americans love to attack by Air Force....in the case of SM (hey, cool abbreviation Big grin Big grin Big grin), collateral damage would be huge, they'd flood Italy from the Alps down (Kirkie listen up!), or even worse, given their excellent geographic knowledge, maybe they'd sink the Brits ("whaddaya mean, Tower Bridge NOT in San Marino????")

25 JGPH1A : RE: Besides: the Americans love to attack by Air Force Is there a Chinese Embassy in San Marino ? If so, stand well clear...
26 Richard28 : or a news bureau, I'd stay clear of those too!
27 Post contains images Banco : Talking of poor geographical knowledge, the fact that the San Marino Grand Prix isn't in San Marino ought to count against those German types. Perhaps
28 Iakobos : Probably still on topic... I heard somewhere here that the Scottish footbal federation introduced an official request to UEFA allowing all Scots teams
29 GKirk : Those dodgy Spaniards...after we go 1-0 up against them (which should have went on to 3-0 or 4-0 in the first half, they then equalise and before we c
30 Scotty : Kirkie. Berti pissed on the generator box Bet he wishes every game could last 59 minutes
31 Post contains images GKirk : Scotty, aye, but we were actually playing pretty well though. Just a pity Stevie Crawford couldnae hit a barn door from 2 yards. Bring back Super Ally
32 Gr325 : I remember sitting in the pub in GUuernsey a while back and Holland won 6-0. Fantastic.
33 Scotty : Kirkie The best of Plymouth Argyle taking on a goalie fae Real Madrid!! Think I'd have made a better job of it. Anyway, Kirkie. I'll be there on Wedne
34 GKirk : Scotty, unfortunatly I'll be in a pub watching the gemme on Sky Sports, probably with that plonker Davie Provan commentatin
35 Post contains images Banco : I think you can trace Scotland's decline in international football to the time Archie MacPherson stopped doing the commentary, Kirkie.
36 Post contains images GKirk : Leave Archie oot of this. He still commentates anyway Albeit for Scotsport
37 Post contains images Banco : Does he? My God, I thought he was dead! Archie is a part of my youth. I'll always remember him appearing in a blizzard every week on Football Focus ex
38 GKirk : Aye he's just wrote a biography about the late, great Jock Stein. Something I will have to read someday, and I would think, something many Scottish fo
39 Banco : Kirkie, do you remember Jock Stein? I remember when he died. It was a real shock, not just in Scotland but throughout the rest of Britain. One fo the
40 GKirk : Banco, I was only 2 or 3 when he died, but do remember it.
41 Scotty : Archie MacPherson has been deid for years. His most daft and infamous regular comment being "WHOOAAA" when there is a near thing in the penalty area.
