From F1 Live :

The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team this evening announced that French- Canadian Jacques Villeneuve will test for the team at Silverstone on Wednesday and Thursday.

Villeneuve conducted a seat-fitting at the team's Enstone base on Tuesday evening, and will begin acclimatising himself to the Renault R24 tomorrow at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Mild Seven Renault F1 Team Managing Director Flavio Briatore commented:

"We have reached an agreement for Jacques to test for the team at Silverstone on Wednesday and Thursday. This test might lead to Jacques joining the team for the final three races of the season beginning next week at the Chinese Grand Prix."

As usual, he'll do ... nothing. As long as he is paid, he doesn't care about the rest.

Yeah, I know, can't resist  Innocent

Although an average of 1020 vpp voids all needs for plugging...

cheers,

This is great news. But I doubt that he will have any effect on the top 3 next year.
If he had signed with BMW or McLaren then I would se hope at the end of the tunnel.

Double yayers! Villeneuve has always been my favourite ever since I got interested in F1.

And don't be too hard on him 707... Imagine how frustration it must have been to go from World Champion to nothing in a year and to then continue struggling with a crap car.

Let's hope he can do better at Renault than he did at BAR.

Besides, if nothing else, he can be counted on to provide some excitement in a now mind-numbingly boring sport.

Bonne change Jacques!

Another arrogant, born with a silver spoon, egotistic, know-it-all preppie that got a brand new luxury car. And no, I'm not talking about some a.net teenage right-wing nut... Anyway.

In today's local paper it says Villeneuve signed with Sauber for two years... I don't understand.

I hope it does well.

That is cool, but until Michael retires it doesn't much matter who else drives. How old is Villeneuve?

Maybe one day we'll have another American driver. Maybe I'll even live to see it.

Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

Sauber announced officially that they signed the "son of Gilles" for the next 2 seasons.
That should tell some people something about the market value of this guy in F1...yes he's fast, but he's neither able nor willing to "develop" a car. So you either put him into a winning machine or...well, take your guesses...

btw: Which wouldn't stop him from driving Renault this year

I know it's only VfB but I like it!

I for one am excited...I'll get to see him drive in Australia next year! All right!

Now I just hope he does well. He's a flighty one, our Jacques.

The last REAL Indy 500 champ. (With the exception of Paul Tracy, who won in 2002.)

Just announced recently that he'll drive for Sauber Petronas next year. If DC dosn't end up with a seat next year because of Villeneuve, I may cry.

Arniepie: Jaguar claims that they have people interested in buying the team, but who knows. Also, Mark Webber has a confirmed Williams BMW ride for next season, so he'll be ok. I'm not sure what will happen to Christian Klien though.

Villeneuve, now with Renault, qualified 12th for Shanghai. Could have done better, but not bad for the first time out in a year.

Yayers!

"however, the guy has a cool jet"

- 707, he registers his aircraft in Luxembourg?

"The last REAL Indy 500 champ. (With the exception of Paul Tracy, who won in 2002.)"  Confused

- Who cries more, Paul Tracy or Robbie Gordon?

"Yayers!"

- What the heck does "Yayers!" mean anyway?
