Hello I was just Wondering How I am doing on A.net. I would Like to contribute to this sight as Best as I can But I do not Know Nearly as much about Aircraft as Many others do. I Try to only post when I have something useful to say but I do Have some irrelevant posts also. Does anyone have any opinions about how I am doing on this website and how I can improve? Just A silly Topic.

Mike

Well, for having made only 127 posts, a respect rating of 40 means that you must be doing something right  Big grin

Stop worrying dude - its a sad fact that you feel you have to ask stuff like that when you see how tight, aggressive and nasty it can get in here. (See above for Bimmer's textbook response)

Remember these golden rules and you'll be fine.

A vs B is stupid - leave them to it. Dont even bother posting your reasonable and well thought out comments - they will be ignored.

There are hundreds of 12-16 year old high school kids on here who have no life and feel that attacking someone for what they say in the forum makes them more cool.

The interesting debate is in the Tech-Ops forum.

Dont single out members to agree with in the hope that they will like you and add you to their respect rating go up.

And if all else fails - feel free to post anything you like - no doubt someone will attack you and try to score points off you but dont let it bother you. Have a laugh and enjoy yourself - and if you wanna tell us your dislikes, sexual preferences, taste in music, favourite burrowing mammal, political persuasion, how many spots you have on your ass, or whether you think brown is a superior colour to green - its all good mate, just post it. Its all a good laugh and dont worry what people think dude. Chill out and relax.

If you need a laugh have a look out for Singapore_Air's flight reviews ex heathrow to singapore. You'll laugh your ass off mate believe me. Also KROC, MattD, AA61Hvy, BigPhilNYC, and LHMark are all good guys they are good for a laugh. You may want to get to know the Brits on here too - AvianceGirlUK, RyanGooner, RyanB741, Ben, WhiteHatter, Arsenal@l.hr Pe@rson, EGFFBmi, and the rest of them - they are a good laugh.

Agree with NW747400, If you disagree, do not bite someones head off in the process, do it in the 'civilized' manner.
You have a good respect rating so you must be doing well. But in reality, don't worry too much about it. This is a place to learn, contribute, and to a certain extent in this forum, joke around.
You cannot learn without people disagreeing with you.

Many people ask themselves this question quite often. I myself ask myself "Why am I here?" a number of times. But here's what I think.

You say you don't know as much about aircraft as some of the others. Neither do a lot of people, you are not the only one. Airliners.net is not a place to show off how much you know about aviation. It is, in my opinion, about sharing your views in a civil manner (which doesn't really happen, it's more of an attack), knowledge and information about aviation. I have learnt a lot from this site, and that's what makes it successful, the fact that people are learning about aviation, from other people with the same interest.

We are all allowed opinions, but I can confirm for sure that Bimmer does not speak for all of us, so do not take what he said seriously. It seems that whatever people post on this site, somebody will always take it seriously. Post what you like, don't worry about others, if they wanna whine, let them, and ignore them.

What ChrisBA777er said was so right. The A vs. B threads are dum. There are loads of 12-16 year olds who have no lives (not speaking about all of them though) and so spend all their time on here, trying to see who they can next attack. The fact that they don't have a life themself means that they try to attack others, so that can try to "up themselves", when all they're really doing, is being a complete and utter arsehole.

You make regular contributions to chat, which are so appreciated by the people who are there. You present yourself in a polite manner, and you never seem to have any disputes with any other members. You have nothing to worry about, and I thank you for your contributions in chat.

Two tips for ya:

A. Don't post topics like this  Big grin

B. Stay out of political threads, or you'll end up having a large portion of people hating you and another loving you.

Uh, duuuuude... Don't take it too seriously. This coming from an obsessive-compulsive approval seeker. Having an RR of 40 or above is difficult enough. You're OK in my book.
