Those ASOS weather observing systems are crap. It's just the machine F-ing up.

When I was stationed at KSVN we would always get weather alerts from the ASOS at KSAV showing +TSRASN. Of course it was 100 degrees and July outside, but why let that gt in the way. I love how those obs get by the human observer watching the machine too.

I know some places reported hail... Perhaps this caused the problem?

Believe it or not, it does snow in Florida once in awhile. It even snowed in Miami in Januray 1977.

Places like Orlando and Gainesville get temperatures below freezing every winter. Tallahassee can be in the 20s F. It is sometimes colder in Tallahassee than New York.

In spite of that occasion in Miami, it is South Florida which has significantly warmer weather.

No doubt it can snow in Florida, but not in September when its 70-80 degrees outside.

I guess I can believe that. Heck here in San Diego back in fall 1996, The dew in the morning froze so all the grass at my highschool looked gray. Nobody believed it mainly cuz they weren't looking and they think this place is a paradise.

IMO, San Diegan are spoilt rotten brats when it comes to weather. The newsmedia treats mist and light rain (if you can call it that) as if we had real weather. They are more weather dumb than aviation dumb despite this being a Naval city.  Insane

I think it's cool you got snow. I wish we could get clouds or wind.  Sad There hasn't been jack out here for 9 months!
