Ok..

My Internet connection got upgraded today...

I logged on..

Everything was going fine.. downloads of 100kb/s...

I disconnected from the internet to do some school work..

Went back online.. and everything had come to a slow down!

I did a speed test and got a download speed of 4.8kb/s...

I checked my internet connection and it says that I have 65 errors out of 567,247 bytes, as you can see I haven't surfed much.. only here and google.. and I have this many errors..

Could that have something to do with it?

I really need your help!

Thanks guys!

Regards,

Christa

The provider may be innocent. Could well be one of the usual Windows infections on your side. Try with a different system (don´t connect both at the same time to prevent any infection from spreading!) and see if the effect is the same.

Try also Norton Systemworks 2005. It's free for download at Kazaa and Emule. That will help you a lot. ( Kazaa and Emule are legal in Europe)

Question, 1) Do you have Cable or ADSL high speed now?
2)Do you still have your telephone cable plugged in to your modem?

1) I am on ADSL high speed now..

2) I have an extension on my line into my bedroom from the master socket which then goes into my modem via a microfilter..

If I understand correctly you still have your old telephone line (=low speed internet) plugged in to your modem?
Normally your high speed goes trough a different inlet (USB or UTP-cable)
If so it could be that you have to change your internet explorer properties and set it correct for the right connection methode.
This is best done by using the start up CD your provider gave to you.
Afterwards just unplug the telephone-cable and dubble-check that your
Dial up connection is switched of(in your configuration menu)

PS I hope I did not misunderstood your problem, if so just tell me

regards

Yes,

I think you have misunderstood....

With my connection all I have is an extension of my high speed broadband line from the master socket (downstairs) to my bedroom upstairs...

Okay sorry about that.

Another possibility, maybe your provider put you on small band (by mistake) because it thinks (serverprogram) your down/upload volume went over the maximum allowed volume.
Usually you can check this on the homepage of your provider, if so just call the help line and inform them
Just an idea, it happened to me 2 times.

If your isp is either BloodyTerrible, Yahbooooooooooo, NTHell or AOHell then these problems are all part of the service. They really are shite and only fools are fooled by their flash 'we're so wonderful and have 18 billion users' ads.

Get a proper isp.

Suggest you go here :

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ where you can compare adsl isp's on price, speed and service. You'll soon see that all four of the above I mention are shite.

I'm with Demon adsl for £25/month on the Demon Express Total package but they had a promo on when I joined them years ago. You got free set-up and a modem so it was a deal-o-rama. Now they charge £50 set-up (+VAT) and £35 for the modem (+VAT) which isn't so rosey now.  Sad

Cheers,

RK
