On the 20th of december this year Fifa will annonce their player of the year.

The 25 candidates have been named and the voting system this year has changed. Now the captains have a vote as well, I stand for correction but I think their votes now count 80% and national coaches count 20%.

I am holding thumbs for Thierry Henry.

If Henry doesnt get it it will be a travesty - Ronaldinho third, Kaka second.

How about FIFA start a new award for Team of the Year? Real would win that for sure. No contest!  Big grin

Here is the (Long) shortlist

Adriano (Brazil)
Roberto Ayala (Argentina)
Michael Ballack (Germany)
Milan Baros (Czech Rep)
David Beckham (England)
Gianluigi Buffon (Italy)
Cafu (Brazil)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
Deco (Portugal)
Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast)
Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon)
Luis Figo (Portugal)
Steven Gerrard (England)
Ryan Giggs (Wales)
Thierry Henry (France)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden)
Oliver Kahn (Germany)
Kaka (Brazil)
Frank Lampard (England)
Henrik Larsson (Sweden)
Roy Makaay (Holland)
Paolo Maldini (Italy)
Pavel Nedved (Czech Rep)
Alessandro Nesta (Italy)
Michael Owen (England)
Robert Pires (France)
Raul (Spain)
Roberto Carlos (Brazil)
Ronaldinho (Brazil)
Ronaldo (Brazil)
Wayne Rooney (England)
Andrej Shevchenko (Ukraine)
Ruud van Nistelrooy (Holland)
Theodoros Zagorakis (Greece)
Zinedine Zidane (France)

I cannot believe Owen and Beckham are present but 2 of the Englands best performers in their (somewhat pathetic) Euro 2004 campaign, Cole and Campbell arent.

Real would win that for sure

Because my sacasm detector is very poor im going to give an optional post.

If you were being sarcastic then) LOL
If you weren't being sarcastic then) ROFLMAO, What in gods name are you saying.

Off course, my player vote goes to Thierry, then to Ronaldinho.

Thierry Henry.

And coming from a MU supporter that is praise indeed...Beckham has been rubbish this last year and Rooney has a good 15 or more years to win it.

Rj111, of course I was being sarcastic! What were Real thinking anyway? They filled up their team with one prima donna after another... The bitchy gays on Queer Eye are better co-prdinated as a team!

And whilst I'm being sarcastic, how about FIFA eliminate the shortlist for Player of the Year and just hand it to Becks? He doesn't deserve the humiliation of having to be on a shortlist. He's clearly been the best of the best this year.

Raaah!
