SINGAPORE: Malaysia's former leader claimed yesterday that British Prime Minister Tony Blair had told him that ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had to be removed from power because the US-led coalition was unwilling to wait for him to die naturally.

I would have preferred John Kerry's method - send Bush's economic team to Iraq and see how fast they could have ruined Saddam & Iraq.

That;s actually nonsense, because if you look at the pre-war Iraqi situation all that would happen is Qusay or possibly Uday would step up to the plate.

Qusay was every bit as potty as his old man, and Uday was several sandwiches short of a full picnic. If anything the situation would have got a whole lot worse.

In that context "waiting for Saddam to die" would hardly be a worthwhile exercise, taken separately from the whole rights or wrongs of the war issue.
