Greetings everyone. I was just thinking that I kind of would like to take a few flying lessons to see if I want to maybe choose this as a profession. My question is, is 15 years old (16 on 12.31) old enough where I could take lessons or is over 18 or something? Thank you for your time and replies.

Hey yanks!

I heard you can take lessons from age 15 but can only get your license at 16 (or was that 18??)

Just search around on the internet, contacts some of the local airports and they may have numbers of flight instructors - in fact, Our own Craig Mills is an instructor, but I don't think he visits A.net that often anymore.

Just call those flight lesson places and ask them, that'd be the ideal thing, because I'm only going off of what someone told me.

Later!

You can legally fly a glider at age 14, though.  Smile Always good "engine out" training, and you can pretend you're the big hero pilot trying to land the 'plane with a failed engine...

You can start taking flying lessons at whatever age you want (as long as its cool with the flight school). But you have to be 16 to solo and 17 to get your pilots license. So you should definitely be able to take them now.

License is 17. Technically you can start lessons at any age. If you were 1 year old you could start. It's not the least bit logical, however. Logical age to begin is 15-16.
