What stars are afraid to fly.

I know Robert Smith of the Cure hates flying, David Bowie and Matthew Sweet all go through drastic measures not to step foot in a plane.

Who else?

Does Robert Smith actually NOT fly, or does he just not enjoy it?

I heard Robert Smith used to take the Q2 across the pond for U.S. tours. I don't think he flys at all.

Why can't we just tranquilize them and pop them in their seat? John Madden is obviously well informed that driving is far more dangerous than flying.

Pavaroti will fly but hates it. If I remember correctly, he was involved in a crash at some point in his life. His "handlers" have to provide support as he flies.

Tripleseven is right, it was a TWA 707 that crashed short of runway at, I believe, Orly in Paris. That's a vocal lesson he could've done without!

Aretha Franklin, so I understand, has been undergoing therapy to help overcome her fear of flying. However, I fear her biggest doubt may be whether the seats in First Class are wide enough...

Well, he's not exactly a movie star, but John Gotti, former head of the Gambino crime family, hated to fly and would drive for hours before setting foot in a plane.

John Madden missed a flight, I believe it was one that crashed into the Potomac, on which he was supposed to be and almost everyone died. hence, he no longer flies...
