This is sad..

John Edwards wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Hopefully they have caught it early enough for treatment. According to reports she held off on getting the doctor to check it until after the election so she could campaign.

Sad indeed. I hope the delay didn't endanger her prognosis. All the best to her and her loved ones for a full recovery!

My prays go out to her and her family.

I wonder how this experience will affect her husband's view on the role and contribution of doctors in modern society.

Prayers to her and the Edwards family.

Man, that has to be tough to have your head screwed on straight while doing marathon campaigning, jetting all over, and still having that in the forefront of your mind.

Everyone- encourage the ladies in your life to have regular mammograms and breast exams!

A recent item in Slate said that the Edwards' two younger children were almost certainly born via use of donor eggs. I wonder if something associated with the procedure could increase the likelihood of breast cancer.

7 days before last Christmas my wife was summoned to have a second mammogram on which "something" was spotted. Two days later a needle biopsy..the day after Christmas we were told that the biopsy did find cancer,
"ductile carcinoma in situ" and it was likely nothing to be too concerned about,
but they wanted her to see a surgeon. Fortunately, after 2 rounds of surgery,
they were convinced they got it all and it was non invasive..was confined to
a few ducts. No radiation, no meds..she's fine.

I relived those moments reading of Ms Edwards' sad news..and my thought and prayers are with her for a full and speedy recovery..and that her family
will be comforted as well.

I hope they can find a competent doctor to treat her. Her hubby John has spent a lot of time as a trial lawyer in courtrooms putting doctors out of business for percieved "malpractice." I wonder if Elizabeths situation and her subsequent medical bills will change his heart for the injustices he has done to many doctors and the increase in insurance rates for doctors he has helped to cause. Probably not since he is wealthy and can afford the bills unlike the middle class he claims to represent.

This is an awful thing to happen to anyone. Why do you have to bring politics into this? That's plain shameful.  Insane

Best of luck to Mrs. Edwards and her family.
