How many of you have spotted the controverisal Hummer H2 in your land or on foreign soil outside of North America? Here in the USA, it is the most hated SUV by envirornmentalist because of its hefty thirst for gasoline. I know that official sales outside the US are limited, but I'd like to hear where you've seen one and your comment and impressions of it.

Well....

I haven't seen it in Denmark so far. As far as I know that Monster is not legal here in Denmark because of safety reasons.

But I have no doubt that we will see it here sooner or later.

Ditto.

As Ireland is considering slapping a 5000 Euro + tax on SUV's (depending on location and emissions), chances are our eyesight shall be preserved.

There are more than a few here. I would guess that there are a lot more in the Gulf, like in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and co.

There's one down here in Plymouth, England that I see just about every morning on my way to college. Don't like it, just another way for 'townies' to show off, wouldn't be surprised if its never been off road in its life!

There's some asshole driving one here in the center of Helsinki, where most of the streets weren't even designed for today's traffic levels in the first place. I see it every once in a while, and wonder how many other cars it scratches per day in the tightest places. It's amazing what trouble people with small dicks will go through...

Never seen it here and don't miss it, but I would like to see the stretched version (!) in downtown London. Let's see how far the driver gets that behemouth or how long it takes for him to find a parking lot.  Acting devilish

There are two in Barcelona:

one belongs to a drug capo, and the other one, to a soccer player.

Is like a giant brick! Really, don't want to encounter with one of these in a narrow road!

I haven't seen any yet - why would anyone voluntarily drive around in a car that looks like a security van ?

The Porsche SUV is much in evidence down this end of the world though - usually with Monaco plates. It's another total pose-mobile which nobody in their right mind would ever take off road - I mean its not as if the South of France is ideal off-road territory anyway !

There at least two in the Huddersfield area (UK). There is also one of those stretched ones which you can see regularly.

Not sure how people can afford to put petrol in them in the UK!

Doubt it - mud and scratches will play havoc with the resale value. Besides, if it got into anything like mud, it would sink without trace.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

A similar measure is being drawn up here in Belgium.

I wonder if it's hated more than the Ford Excursion. That vehicle was in the environmentalists' crosshairs before it even came out. At least, the Excursion has some style to it.

Although, personally (and Superfly would agree with me on this), give me a Ford Country Squire or a Mercury Colony Park (especially the 70s models) over the current brute SUVs any day. Most people who buy these thing here and abroad are not using them for off-roading.

Should Superfly see this post, look for a picture of a '78 Colony Park to follow.

I personally hate the H2, but i love the H1, the same as the Army's. Gosh you could run over anything with the H1.
BTW, the hummer is more capable than you think in harsh conditions, it's just that the H2 is a "Stromboni" version of the Hummer

NoUFO: We have an H2 stretch just like that in our town. Ugliest piece of crap I think I've ever seen. What a waste of space.

I personally think the new H2's are a waste. The original Hummer was an all purpose, off road vehicle designed for the armed forces. It was only when they designed a street version that people here, rich people, took an interest. The first time I saw a Hummer was in "The Rock" with Nicolas Cage. Remember when Sean Conary stole it? Smile Anyway. The whole purpose of an H2 in my mind, is to take it off road. If you drive the damn thing around on the street, you are defeating it's purpose. Now, you can put DVD players in them, and all other sorts of toys. I was watching the newest piece of junk reality show on ABC, The 25 million dollar hoax, and she went to buy a new H2. She put off road tires on it! She isn't even going to drive the thing off road!

Bottom line, if I hit it big in the lotery, I'd buy a big truck, before I'd buy an H2.
