Well, well... Mrs. Condoleezza "mushroom cloud" Rice working for the trust of her foreign partners... At least there will be an ironic smile on every face whenever she´s showing up anywhere...

No, I dont mind that a black woman was chosen. I'm all for diversity in politics, I just dont think Condoleezza was the best choice. If you think Iraq is a mess now, lets see what Condy does to make it better.

Well, Bush is 1 for 2 on his new appointments. I think Gonzales was a good choice. I think Rice is about the worst choice he could make for SecState, since she was a force behind the Iraq policy, and half the world can't stand her or her ideas.

Actually MattD, it seems as if it's more Bush's attempt to keep the criticism down. I mean, how can ANYONE dispute the appointment of a black woman? Qualifications be damned, they'd be racists to even THINK about it. She's a black woman secretary of state!....

Condoleeza R.: Yes.
George B.: Will you or will you not tell me the name of the new leader of China?
Condoleeza R.: Yes, sir.
George B.: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he was dead!
Condoleeza R.: That's correct.

Condoleeza R.:Kofi?

Condoleeza R.: You want Kofi?
George B.: No.
Condoleeza R.: You don't want Kofi.
George B.: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of
milk. And then get me the U.N.
Condoleeza R.: Yes, sir.
George B.: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.
Condoleeza R.: Kofi?
George B.: Milk! Will you please make the call?
Condoleeza R.: And call who?
George B.: Who is the guy at the U.N?

Condoleeza R.: Yes, sir.
George B.: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the
U.N.
Condoleeza R.: Kofi.
George B.: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone.
(Condi picks up the phone.)
Condoleeza R.: Rice, here.
George B.: Rice? Good idea. And a couple of egg rolls, too. Maybe we
should send some to the guy in China. And the Middle East.

Nevermind the fact that she graduated from college at age 17. You think Margaret Thatcher was a tough woman as British PM, Condy is gonna give her a run for her money

Just because someone graduates from college at an early age, doesnt mean they know whats best for the country. Granted she may be a smart woman, but she's not a smart choice.

That was pretty dang funny, did you make it up or find it somewhere?
Either way...well done.
I don't know if this was the best choice. I think she was in the right slot where she was before. I am prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt, as she is a strong and hyperintelligent woman, who won't take crap off anyone.
This should be interesting, provided ABC is correct.

The ultimate "yes man."
She will tell GWB exactly what he wants to hear.
Condi is an academic soviet-ologist. As far as her politics go, the woman is more bound by her loyalty to GWB than to any post-cold war ideology - conservative or liberal or what-have-you.

She has been NOMINATED as Sec of State. Yes, she will probably get it, but she is not yet the Sec. Of State.

Springbok, that was too funny! I think they did a variation of it on Saturday Night Live and VP Cheney was also in the discussion.
Falcon, do you think Albert Gonzales will have any problems getting confirmed for AG? For some reason, I'm getting flashbacks of Bush's choice of Miguel Estrada for US Circuit Court of Appeals in DC and the controversy it created (Dems' filibustering) until Estrada withdrew his name.

We haven't even started G.W. round two, yet! Dr. Rice was unable to answer simple questions during the 9/11 Commission. I was stunned to read that in the New York Times on Tuesday! I think I may defect to Canada.
